五、 (2024·宿迁期末)阅读理解。
Nowadays, many children spend
hours a day looking at computer screens or other digital products. Some eye doctors say all the screen time has caused more children to have what they call computer vision syndrome(综合征). Nathan Warford is an optometrist(验光师) in the US. He says he has seen more children having eye problems.

“More children come into my office because their parents have noticed
that they have headaches or red eyes, or because their degree of
shortsightedness appears to be increasing(增加) very fast and they’re
worried,” he said. Dr Warford says part of the problem is that even if their
eyes start to feel uncomfortable or they start to get a headache, some
children don’t tell their parents, because they don’t want their games or the
computer to be taken away.

Another part of the problem is that people blink(眨眼睛) less often
when they look at the screen. A person who uses a computer or a digital
product blinks about one third as much as we normally do in everyday life. If
eyes can’t stay wet or are too tired, they won’t be protected like normal.

My view on watching videos on the mobile phone

More and more young people are crazy about watching videos on
the mobile phone, because there are different kinds of programs on it.
On the videos, we can see cartoons, documentaries, comedies and
drama series and so on.

By watching the videos, we can not only relax ourselves but also
learn the latest information. We can also learn a lot about nature and
real-life events from them. They also play an educational role in our daily
lives, because they offer educational courses to young people. We can
learn more about the world by reading books on the mobile phone.

However, the videos do harm to our eyes. Also we are growing
less and less creative since watching these videos doesn’t need any active
thoughts. Watching too many videos can influence our study because we
spend too much time on it. As a result, we may fail in exams.
To keep our mind and body healthy, we should take more
exercise instead of watching the videos on the mobile phones. And we
should spend most of our time studying to get high marks.

四、 (2023·沭阳县外国语实验学校调研)阅读理解。
In Spain, children and their families are riding bikes to the school
together in large groups. The program is called the bike bus.
Then, how did it begin? In Barcelona, a group of five children
began biking to the school with their parents on Fridays. Soon the group grew
to 150 or more.

What’s it like? The bike bus begins around 8:25 every Friday
morning. The path it follows is always posted before it starts, so everyone
knows where to join. Instead of riding in bike lanes(车道), the bike bus
takes over the whole street. The trip lasts for about 25 minutes. And with the
growing cycling and skating kids taking part in this bike bus culture, the
local police are helping stop traffic by riding in front of the bike bus or behind
it. This further makes the parents happy because they don’t have to worry
about their children’s safety on the road. With music playing and bike bells
ringing, the bike bus feels like a party.

“The best part of the bike bus is that we ride along and pick up my friends
and we ride together,” nine-year-old Maria says.
How does it change people’s life? Some parents have made the bike
bus the way they get to work on Friday. They are hoping that the bike bus will
help change ideas about how people can get around in the city. They want the
city to build wider, kid-friendly bike lanes that are separated from car
traffic. They point out that the bike bus also helps cut down on pollution.
Now, the bike bus is getting more and more attention. Many people
think it’s a great activity and decide to take part in it.
