Step 1 Lead in
The T can present the pictures of some public places in the PPT and elicit some nouns of places from Ss and encourage Ss to talk about what people can do in these places. The T may present the related target vocabulary in 1a beside each picture to check Ss’ responses. The T can make Ss read the words and expressions in chorus. In this step, the T should make sure Ss review and recite these nouns of places: bank; shopping mall; post office; restaurant; bookstore; library; cinema; telephone booth; hospital
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1a The T can make Ss talk about the picture in 1a. The T may use these prompts: What places do you see in the picture (Answers: post office,library,restaurant,bank,bookstore,department store ) What are names of the two streets (Answers:Main and Center) What are the people doing (Answer: The two girls are asking the two boys for information ) 1a The T can make Ss read the expressions in chorus and then do the exercises in 1a . The T can check answers by making conversations with Ss or asking them do this in pairs like this: T: Where can we get some money S1: We can get some money at a bank. S2: Where can we get some magazines S3: We can get them at a post office. Suggested answers: b get some money d/f get some information about the town c/f get some magazines f buy a newspaper a have dinner e buy some stamps f get a dictionary c get a pair of shoes 1b Before listening, the T may guide Ss to review the prepositions of position by describing the positions of these places in the picture in 1a to prepare for the following listening. For example: T: Where is the bank S: It’s between the restaurant and the bookstore. T: Which street is it on S: It’s on Main Street.. 1b While listening, the T can play the recording for the first time and Ss finish the task in 1b. Then the T can present the correct answers in the PPT. Answers: buy some stamps 2.post office 3.Center Street 4.get a dictionary 5.bookstore 6.Main Street 1b While listening, the T may play the recording a second time and uses these prompts to have a brief discussion: What does the girl want to buy (answer : Some stamps.) When does the bookstore close today (answer : 7:00P.M..) 1b After listening, the T can play the video of the 1b and help Ss recognize the target language in natural speech. Then the T can provide Ss with the opportunity for further practice in using target language by getting Ss to substitute any of the answers for the speech bubbles with other possible answers. For example: S1: Excuse me, could you tell me where I can get a pair of shoes S2: Yes, there’s a department store on Main Street. 1c The T can invite Ss to role-play the conversation in 1c. Then the Ss can work in pairs to make conversations . During this step, the T should pay attention to the fluency of Ss’ speaking instead of the accuracy. Just offer help to the Ss in need and don’t over correct their small mistakes. Note: In this period, the T needn’t highlight the grammar structure. Ss just need to understand the meanings of sentences and practice use them in the conversations. The T needn’t analyze the structure to Ss.

The class starts with places in a city and things that people do in these places.Then the teacher should help them come to oral practice about asking the way and asking for information.At this step we usually don't tell them the structure.Our focus is on language listening and speaking.

Step 1 Warm-up & Revision
The T can get Ss to feel the usage of the target language in natural speech by playing a video about asking for directions. Before that, the T can introduce the context of the video so that they can have a better understanding of it. Alexandra is traveling in the USA. She wants to go to 46 Linden Street Riverdale, but she doesn't know the way now. What should she do Then the T can elicit from Ss how to ask and show the way to review what they have learned: Excuse me, where is … Excuse me, is there … near here Excuse me, could you tell me the way to … Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to … Go straight. Go along the street, then turn left / right. Turn left / right at the first turning / crossing. Go past the…
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
Before listening , the T can ask Ss to look at the picture in 2a. The T can use the following prompts: What places does the picture show What shops can we see in the picture How many floors can we see in the picture If I want to buy...what shop should I go to And how can I get there 2a The T can ask Ss to read the sentences in 2a to make sure they get the meaning of them. The T can use the two prompts: What does the boy want to buy Where can he buy it Then the T play the recording for a first time and make Ss grasp the main idea of the listening with the two questions. Then the T can play the recording a second time to ask Ss to pay more attention to the details. Ss finish the task in 2a and the T can check the answers. Answers: ____ Go to the third floor. 2 Turn left. 1 Go to the second floor. ____ Turn right. 4 The supermarket is between the flower store and the bookstore. 3 Go past the bookstore. 2b Play the recording again and ask Ss to focus attention to more details and finish the task in 2b. Ss can work in pairs to check their answers then correct them. The T ask more questions to test Ss’ understanding such as: When does the shopping center close Does the other boy know when it closes What does he suggest The answer of 2b is presented in PPT. 2b After listening , the T can present the listening material to the students in need to help them get the specific information about the conversation. 2c To give Ss practice using the target language in conversations, the T can encourage Ss to make conversation using the information in 2a like this: A: Excuse me. Can you tell me where I can buy some stamps B: Yes, there’s a post office in this shopping center. A: Do you know how to go there B: Yes. Go to the third floor and turn right. Then go past the bank. Step 3 Presentation & Reading
2d Before reading, the T can play a video for Ss to know about the cultural difference about the toilet , the bathroom and the restroom. The T can use these prompts to encourage Ss to have a discussion: Have you ever seen these signs Do you know what they mean Do they have the same meaning or different meanings 2d The T can ask Ss to read the conversation for the first time to get the main idea. The T can check their understanding by asking them questions : 1.Where are He Wei and Alice 2. What different parts does Fun Times Park have 3.Alice used a word that He Wei didn’t fully understand at the beginning.What was that word 4.How did Alice help He Wei to understand her 2d The T can check Ss’ answers and focus Ss’ attention to the key words and sentence patterns in the conversation: 2d Then the T can play the recording of the conversation and make Ss read after it. Pa attention to the pronunciation and intonation. 2d The T can play the video of the conversation and then invite some Ss to role-play the conversation as open pairs.

Teaching Reflection In this period, there are more new words and expressions. The T should provide more practice in listening and speaking and encourage Ss to be more involved.The teacher should get them to learn the main structure-objective clause with wh- word and get the students to practice it in listening and speaking. In the reading part, Ss can experience more practice in using the target language in natural speech.

Step 1 Lead in
The T can play a video about the amusement park. Ss will learn some related words and phrases so that they can prepare well for the following activities. Then the T may present some pictures of amusement parks to elicit discussions from Ss: Have you ever been to an amusement park What do you think of it The T can present some pictures of different rides in amusement parks and elicit the English names of them from Ss. The Ss can share their experiences of going to amusement parks or theme parks. The T can ask them if they were excited or scared to try these rides .
Step 2 Presentation & Reading
Before-reading The T can ask Ss to talk about the title and the picture in 3a. The T can use these prompts: 1. What can people do at Fun Times Park 2. Do people always enjoy themselves there 3. Which word or words in the title tell us that they always enjoy themselves 4. What word would you think of to describe that ride shown in the picture 5. Do you want to be on that ride Why or why not While-reading Task 1 Skimming and counting The T can ask Ss to read the conversation in 3a quickly and count how many scenes(场景) in this conversation so that Ss can grasp the main idea of the conversation. Scene 1: In Space World Scene 2: After the ride… Scene 3: On the way to Water City Restaurant… Scene 4: Walk up to a staff person at the door Task 2-6 Scanning The T can guide Ss to read each scene carefully and finish the tasks about each scene. Focus Ss’ attention on the details and the key points. Then the T can present the answers. 3a The T make Ss read the conversation again and the Ss finish the task in 3a. The T may use the prompt: Do you often use these magic words in our daily life Do you think they work well The T can guide Ss to review what they have learned by asking them to describe the picture of asking way. Pay attention to the accuracy of Ss’ words and remind Ss to use the target structure: Excuse me, do you know where I can take the subway Could you please tell me how to get the metro station Then Ss can be asked to make some conversations about asking for directions with partners according to the given map. Be polite! The teacher can observe Ss’ performance and offer feedback and make assessment.
Step 2 Grammar learning
Grammar Focus The T can ask Ss to read aloud the sentences. The T can pay attention to their pronunciation. Then the T can present all the questions in two ways: direct way and indirect way so that Ss can find the rules of the target structure. For example: Where can I buy some medicine Excuse me, do you know where I can buy some medicine Then the T can introduce the usage of the target grammar structure from several aspects. Focus Ss’ attention to the changes of tense and word order of the objective clause.
Step 3 Presentation & Practice
4a The T make Ss read the sentences in 4a. Then the T can ask several questions to guide Ss to have a discussion. Are these questions polite or impolite Do you think these questions are more likely asked between friends or between strangers 4a Ss finish the tasks in 4a and check their answers in pairs to correct them. The T can invite some Ss to share their answers. Teaching Reflection After they learn the main structure in the grammar focus frame,students can practice grammar by using what they have learned in different activities.And we'd better give them some written work after speaking and reading.So as homework, we can ask them to write a conversation about “asking and telling the way to the museum politely”.
