“I wish I had long hair.” “I’d love short hair.” “I’d like to be
taller.” “I wish I were shorter.” At times, we all want to look a bit more
like someone else.
However, the people we see on TV and our phones often give us
unrealistic(不切实际的) ideas about how our bodies “should” look.
The truth is that everybody is different. Accepting and feeling good about our
bodies is really important for our health and self-esteem(自尊).

At first, you must have body confidence(信心). Body confidence
means that someone accepts and acts kindly towards his or her body. That
includes weight and height, appearance(外貌) and even physical
disabilities(身体残疾). Jade Parnell, from the Centre for Appearance
Research(CAR), says that having body confidence is about “accepting
your body and what it brings to you”. If you feel confident about your
body, you can look after it well. Research has even shown that you are
more likely to take part in activities and do well in school subjects if you feel
confident. Feeling worried about your body could make you do less well at
school and even feel depressed(沮丧的).
It’s important to remember that everybody is different. Treat yourself as
kindly as you can. And your best friend can also help you to develop body
confidence by telling you that you are prettier than you look.

A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question.

B. To share the secret to getting along with others.
C. To advise students to keep studying hard.

Family fights are 1 pleasant. Whether you are dealing with a loud

not 2 we have learned to expect.
What if it could be different? What if family fights and conflicts could
be turned into chances to become closer? What if problems could be solved
with everyone feeling more deeply cared 3 and loved?

Family fighting is, on one level, about power. Someone is telling
someone else what to do. In a short moment, emotions can be brought out
and the fight is 4 . You can go down that old road or you can try 5
different.

In any fight, you have a need to be listened to and understood. People
raise their voices and 6 at each other because they’re not being listened
to. It’s totally unconscious. You want your mum or dad to listen and
understand. But you always seem to forget the person you’re fighting with
has the same need to be listened to. So if you can 7 your need for a few
minutes, the situation will change quickly. Give the other person some time
to express his or her feelings, and you will earn your 8 to be listened
to.

And while you are listening, you have to listen for the right
information. The best way to do this in 9 situations is to forget most of

First, manage your time wisely and properly. You can make your day
well-organized by making plans. Second, talk with your parents. I
strongly suggest that you try to share your worries with your parents and
have an open talk with them so that they can put themselves in your
shoes. Moreover, colour therapy is a good method to relax your body
and mind. Finally, you can try something fun to bring calm and peace
to your mind.
I hope my advice is worth taking.

These days, some teenagers told me they were unhappy about their
changing voice. When their voice changed, their classmates said they
sounded like a duck, and it made them really sad. They even didn’t feel like
talking much, and they really wanted their old voice back.

Do you have the same problem? It’s not nice to be laughed at. But try
not to care too much about your voice breaking. It’s a natural change and
something many people go through. I still remember my friend Ryan at
school. For about two years, his voice would be breaking. Sure,
sometimes it was quite funny to hear a “croak” rather than words, but it
wasn’t that big a deal. He found that the more he got embarrassed(尴尬
的), the more other people would laugh. If he just didn’t care about other
people’s reactions(反应), then they would stop reacting. You should be
proud of the changes your body is going through, not embarrassed.

Puberty(青春期) is a natural process everybody experiences. Maybe
having a talk with one of your parents will work if you want to understand
more about what this means. Your voice changing is only a small part of the
process. You will probably get through this part quickly and soon your voice
will be strong and stable(沉稳的).

1. How long would Ryan’s voice be breaking?

2. What would happen if Ryan just didn’t care about other people’s
reactions?

3. Please write another way to deal with the problems in puberty. Explain
your reason. (Do not mention any ways in this article.)

Other people would stop reacting.
We can read some books to learn about the changes in our body.
