Dear Mark,
I know that you take a great interest in the folk culture of Shenzhen. Now I'm writing to tell you something about the Temple Fair of Beidi.
With a history of over 500 years, Beidi Ancient Temple hosts the fair every year. It falls on the third day of March in the Chinese lunar calendar and lasts for nine days. The tradition dates back to the Ming Dynasty. In 2022, the fair was included in the intangible cultural heritage list of Guangdong Province.
Nowadays the Temple Fair of Beidi has become the largest traditional temple fair in Shenzhen. It includes a series of cultural performances. If you attend the fair, you will have a chance to taste local food and enjoy drum shows, lion dances, Yingge Dance and so on. In addition, Cantonese Opera performances are available almost every evening, attracting quite a lot of people.

Our school organized a study trip today. Led by our teachers, we paid a visit to the Chinese Puppet Theatre.
Our trip started with a wonderful puppet show. We laughed and cried together with the characters in the show. After that, a guide showed us around the theatre, carefully introducing the history of Chinese puppets. In addition, we were invited to take a puppet DIY class. Under the guidance of experienced teachers, we succeeded in making different lively puppets by hand. We felt so proud of ourselves.
Through the trip, I was fortunate to experience the beauty of puppets and learn more about this traditional art form. What an educational trip! There is no doubt that it's a great chance to allow us to learn something that won't be taught in classes. I'm really looking forward to another trip like this.

I'm Li Hua. I'm honored to be here to give a speech about Cantonese Opera.
Cantonese Opera has a long history which can date back to the Ming Dynasty. In the process of its development, it kept improving by mixing different opera styles. The performances are based on traditional Chinese stories and major historic events. It is a unique type of theatre art which not only combines stories, music with acting, but also shows the beauty of traditional Chinese costumes. In 2009, Cantonese Opera was included in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list, which makes it well-known all over the world.
In my opinion, the main reason why young people don't have a passion for Cantonese Opera is that they know little about it. The same goes with other traditional Chinese culture. So it's necessary for us to be open to traditional Chinese culture and try to enjoy its beauty. Once you have a try, I believe you will fall in love with it. Let's do our part in inheriting and carrying forward traditional Chinese culture.

I'm writing to invite you to take the dough sculpture class with me. First, let me introduce dough sculpture to you.
Dough sculpture, also known as mianren in Chinese, is a kind of traditional Chinese art. It has a history of more than 1,300 years. Dough sculptures are mainly made from flour, honey and salt. A dough sculpture craftsman usually spends three to four minutes finishing a piece of work in the shape of a flower, a bird, a fish and so on. Although the making of dough sculptures seems simple, the art is of high artistic value. In 2008, dough sculpture was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
From the dough sculpture class, we can not only learn the skills of making dough sculptures, but also know about traditional Chinese culture. The class will be offered in the school hall from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm this Friday.
