After completing my first year of studies, I spent two months travelling in Nepal. There were so many sights to see, foods to eat, and fun activities to try. I only experienced a few of them, but it was an incredible experience all the same.
The first thing I noticed about Nepal was its people. They are kind and friendly, ready to help someone in need. This may be a cliché (陈词滥调) that you hear from most travellers regarding the country they travelled to, but I’m saying so because of what I saw among the citizens themselves, rather than how they treated me as a visitor. Little things about how the local people interact with each other makes me believe that the Nepalese people are truly wonderful. It shows in the way that the bus drivers and passengers keep the bus waiting for the last passenger, or the motorist smiles and waves to a kid who runs into the street after his ball. The people are like a bowl of hot soup on a rainy day – always warm and comforting. Conversations were as natural as if we had known each other for years. All the people I met during my trip made me feel at home and made my journey an unforgettable one.
The Sauraha village was my first destination. It is an amazingly quiet and peaceful place, where the people lead their lives at their own pace. Although the temperature was high during the day, it was a great area to see some of the wildlife, such as the one-horned rhino (独角犀牛) and elephants. I also got to attend some cultural shows and experience some of the traditional dances of the Nepalese people.
Of all the places I went to within Nepal, Pokhara was undoubtedly the best place I visited. The environment is great there, and there are a lot of fun things to try out. I chose to go boating on a lake, but you can also go diving. Some of the nearby hills provide a great view of the sunrise early in the morning.
Nepal is beautiful in so many ways. Whether you are looking to relax in the wildness and quietness of nature, or go on an exciting adventure, Nepal offers a variety of options. It will surely impress you.
24.What does the author think of the Nepalese people
A.They treat visitors and local people differently.
B.They show kindness and warmth even in little things.
C.They often provide others with a bowl of hot soup on rainy days.
D.It’s easy to talk to them if you have known them for a long time.
25.What does “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to
A.The temperature. B.The Sauraha people.
C.The Sauraha village. D.The wildlife.
26.What does the author like about Pokhara
A.The peaceful lifestyle of the villagers. B.Experiencing a traditional Nepalese dance.
C.Wild animals such as the one-horned rhino. D.Seeing the sunrise from the top of a hill.

A Japanese candy company has been making national news headlines for its idea to produce gummy candy (软糖) that tastes like an “imaginary fruit” called Kiraspika.
Last year was a great one for gummy candy producers, and the market continued to expand throughout 2023, with fruit-flavored (水果味的) gummies being the most popular. There are plenty of fruit flavors to choose from, but companies are still limited to the fruits that can be found in our world. However, what if someone started making candy that tastes like imaginary fruits That was the strange idea that a Japanese sweets maker recently came up with. Two months ago, the company created a new type of gummy candy that tastes like fruit “Kiraspika no Mi”, an imaginary fruit with an original flavor, design, and even a story.
According to the story, the star-shaped Kiraspika only grows in the mountainous area of Blue Knife, where temperatures drop to —50℃ in winter. It is very difficult to get. Everything about Kiraspika was invented in the fruit lab where its flavor experts mixed various existing flavors to create a totally original one that tastes like nothing you’ve ever eaten.
According to its designers, the Kiraspika-flavored gummy candy has a unique sweetness mixed with a kind of sourness (酸味), but many of those who have tried it have their own description of the taste.

Parents, you’ve worked hard to teach the most important life lessons to your little ones. You ask them to say “please” and “thank you”, you remind them to eat with a knife and fork, and you never, never let them pick their nose in public. But there’s one important lesson that you might be forgetting --- and it’s nothing you can cover in a simple conversation.
According to a new study in the journal Science, babies receive more than genetics (基因) from their parents. They can also get certain good qualities, such as persistence (坚持不懈), by watching how adults behave. Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology say that babies who watched an adult struggle (努力) with and then triumph over something were more likely to show persistence themselves when given a new task.
The team at MIT studied 262 babies between the ages of 13 and 18 months. They placed them in on c of three situations. In the first one, the lead researcher struggled with two different toys’ problems before solving them, letting the baby watch while she did so. The second time, the researcher solved the problems but did not struggle with them. And for the third scene, she did not do anything.
After each scene, the researcher left a small musical toy with the child. She showed the baby that it could play music but did not teach them how to turn it on. The babies who had watched the researcher struggle discovered and pressed the toy’s button (按钮) a much greater number of times than those in the last two groups. In other words, the babies did not copy what they had watched; they learned not to give up, instead.
Now, the researchers are interested in finding which ways of talking with babies influence them the most. They also hope to know if the results can work in the real world, as well as whether the lesson of persistence might last into adulthood.
32.What important lesson might parents forget
A.Asking their kids to be polite B.Setting an example for their kids.
C.Teaching their kids good table manners. D.Using proper words in front of their kids.

C.Kids learned most from their parents. D.Kids are smarter than we thought.

Michelle one day found herself the unexpected owner of fifteen dollars. It seemed to her a very large amount of money. For a day or two she walked around in a dreamy state as she thought about her choices. Her daughter Mary was wearing worn shoes and needed new ones. She would buy cloth for new shirts for the boys. Her daughter Jane should have another dress. And still there would be enough left for new stockings for her children. The idea about how to spend the dollars made her restless with excitement.
On the day she planned to go shopping with the money, she ate a light meal--- no! Between getting the children fed and the house cleaned, and preparing herself to go shopping, she forgot to eat at all!
When she arrived at the large department store, she spotted a pile of silk stockings at the entrance. A sign nearby announced that they had been reduced in price. A young girl behind the counter asked her if she wished to examine the silky leg coverings. She smiled as if she had been asked to inspect diamond jewelry, and started to feel the soft, expensive items. Michelle picked up a black pair and looked at them closely. Two red marks suddenly showed on her pale face. She looked up at the shop girl and said proudly, “Well, I will buy this pair.”
Michelle changed her cotton stockings for the new silk ones in the ladies’ rest area. She had let herself be controlled by some machine-like force that directed her actions and freed her of responsibility. How good was the touch of the silk on her skin! Then she put her shoes back on and put her old stockings into her bag. Next, she went to the shoe department, where she tried on a pair of new boots. Her foot and ankle looked lovely. She could not believe that they were a part of herself.

M: Geocaching is a great way to add interest to any walk. Turning a walk into an adventure is great, and turning it into a treasure hunt is even better. Geocaching involves using your GPS or smartphone to track down one of tens of thousands of secret treasures that have been planted all around the country. Those who know the treasures hide the treasure box and leave clues in the form of mapping so that anyone with a GPS device or smartphone loaded with the Geocaching APP can seek it out.
To the finder’s usual delight, most treasure boxes come stuffed with various surprises, such as latest novels, toys or dolls. These boxes are hidden almost everywhere. It will come as no surprise to discover that they are widely hidden in woodland, farmland and along the coast, but we’ve also found them in supermarket, car parks, in woods, at the residence and in community gardens. Finding treasure boxes firstly gives kids a reason to go for a walk and also teaches them micro skills of finding their way around, both digital and traditional.

根据文章第二段“Two months ago, the company created a new type of gummy candy that tastes like fruit “Kiraspika no Mi”, an imaginary fruit with an original flavor, design, and even a story.”(两个月前,这家公司创造了一种新型的软糖,味道像一种名为“Kiraspika no Mi”的虚构水果,这种水果有原创的味道、设计甚至故事。) 故选A。
根据文章最后一段“It is the mystery of the flavor and the personal explanations that make this product liked by many people.”(正是这种味道的神秘性和个人的解释使得这种产品受到了许多人的喜爱。)

根据文章第一段“But there’s one important lesson that you might be forgetting --- and it’s nothing you can cover in a simple conversation.(但有一个重要的教训你可能会忘记——这不是你能在一个简单的对话中涵盖的。)”以及第二段“Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology say that babies who watched an adult struggle (努力) with and then triumph over something were more likely to show persistence themselves when given a new task.(麻省理工学院的研究人员表示,看到成年人在某件事上挣扎并取得胜利的婴儿,在接受新任务时更有可能表现出坚持不懈的精神。)”
根据划线单词所在句 “Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology say that babies who watched an adult struggle (努力) with and then triumph over something were more likely to show persistence themselves when given a new task.(麻省理工学院的研究人员表示,看到成年人在某件事上挣扎并取得胜利的婴儿,在接受新任务时更有可能表现出坚持不懈的精神。)” 故选A。
根据文章第二段“They can also get certain good qualities, such as persistence (坚持不懈), by watching how adults behave.(他们也可以通过观察成年人的行为获得一些好的品质,比如坚持不懈。)”以及第四段“In other words, the babies did not copy what they had watched; they learned not to give up, instead.(换句话说,婴儿不会复制他们所看到的东西;相反,他们学会了不放弃。)”
根据文章最后一段“They also hope to know if the results can work in the real world, as well as whether the lesson of persistence might last into adulthood.(他们还希望知道这些结果是否适用于现实世界,以及坚持不懈的教训是否会持续到成年。)”

She waved to the salesgirl of the department and asked her whether she could try on the fashionable dress styles;时间状语从句:She was about to leave the store when a kid running around reminded her of something 等。
