人与自然——宇宙探索
Scientists from NASA in the US have announced the exciting news that
there is water on the moon. They said the moon may hold water in more
places and in larger amounts(量) than they thought earlier. According to
two separate studies, the scientists believed that there is water on the side of
the moon we can see. Ice was thought to be on the dark side of the moon,
which always stays away from sunlight. However, NASA said it found
water on the sunlit parts of the moon surface. The space agency said it found
some water in one area. This was not enough to become ice as the molecules
(分子) were kept in a cubic(立方的) metre of rock.

NASA’s discovery could make way for us for more space discovery. It
could be a game-changer in the research on studying the universe. It could
enable people to set up permanent bases(永久基地) on the moon faster. It
opens up the possibility of there being enough drinking water. This could be
turned into fuel for a spaceship to fly one day. A NASA spokesperson
explained the famous discovery. He said, “Water is a resource of direct
value for our astronauts. Any time we don’t need to carry water for our trip,
we have an opportunity to take other useful things with us. Water is always
very important for deep space research and travel.” That means astronauts
could transport materials to be used to carry out bigger scientific experiments.

人与自然——宇宙探索
When you look up into the night sky, you can see the moon. But do
you know that you’re only seeing one side of the moon? The other side,
also known as the far side of the moon, has long been a secret to us. But
now, we have a chance to see what’s on the far side.
On January 3rd, China’s Chang’e 4 probe(探测器) landed on the
far side of the moon. It is the first probe in history to land there.

The Chang’e 4 probe has already done a lot of things on the moon. One
of its jobs is to grow plants. The Chang’e 4 probe took six living things to the
moon, such as cotton, potatoes and fruit flies(果蝇). The cotton has
already started growing. This is the first time humans have grown plants on
the moon.
The Chang’e 4 probe also took a lot of pictures of the moon’s far side.
With these pictures, scientists will learn more about the moon.

1. According to the passage, we can see both sides of the moon. F
2. Growing plants on the moon is the Chang’e 4 probe’s only task. F

hungry cat come down. Nearby dog owners took their pets for 10 in their
yards instead of letting them out so that Hank would not climb even 1111
with fear.

Nothing had worked until it came to the fifth day. 12 Lyda,

tree, Delores decided to 13 it at once. Together, they produced a
system of pulleys(滑轮) and lifted a 14 with some of Hank’s favorite
things up to him. To their excitement, Hank jumped into it.
Delores was really thankful. “I feel good living in such a 1511
neighborhood. It gave me hope when Hank was in trouble,” she said.
