过去进行时(2)
模块语法突破
在上一模块中,我们学习了过去进行时可以表示过去某一时刻或某一时间段正在进行的动作,常与at that time,at this time last night等时间状语连用。过去进行时还可以和when,
while,as引导的时间状语从句连用。
1.when所引导的时间状语从句既可以指时间点,也可以指时间段;while所引导的时间状语从句只
指时间段。因此,在when引导的时间状语从句中,动词可以是终止性动词,也可以是延续性动词;
而while引导的时间状语从句中,动词必须是延续性动词。
I was cooking when she came in.
=While I was cooking,she came in.
她进来时,我正在做饭。
2.由when 引导的时间状语从句,如果主句用过去进行时且从句用一般过去时,则表示一个动作正
在进行的时候另一个动作(突然)发生了,强调后一动作发生的突然性。
We were talking when the teacher came in.
我们正在讲话时,老师(突然)进来了。
3.当主句和从句的动作都是延续性动词或同时发生时,多用while引导。
We were singing while we were dancing.
我们边唱歌边跳舞。(两个动作同时进行)

4.as表示“当……时”,强调at the same time。
(1)指动作同时发生,尤指短暂动作或事件同时发生。
