文章写作都是围绕某个主题展开的, 这就需要我们先审好题, 围绕主题展开叙述, 然后根据结构和内容要点组织段落的内容, 最后对全文进行总结。在文章中, 段落是用来描述、讨论或解释某个中心思想的。段落主题句(topic sentences)是概括段落中心思想、反映作者写作意图的概括性句子, 是段落核心所在。  
围绕段落主题句, 通过给出一些例子、原因、事实或统计数据等, 对主题句做进一步的阐述, 这些说明性句子, 我们称为段落支持句(supporting sentences)。
为了使写作内容更丰富, 表达更精准, 应在支持句后添加拓展句(developing sentences), 对文章的内容进行恰当合理的补充说明。
