Stephen King is one of the most successful writers in the world. Many of his stories are set in his home state of Maine, the USA. When he was young, he saw one of his friends struck and killed by a train. That’s why he often writes about death. When his first book Carrie was published, no one knew of Stephen King, so his name meant nothing. Three years later, Carrie was made into a movie which was a great success. Since that first success, many of King’s books have been made into movies. King usually writes about ordinary people in ordinary places. His readers think what happens to the people in his books could happen to them. So far, he has already published 58 novels, including seven under the pen name Richard Bachman, and six non-fiction books. He has written about 200 short stories as well. He has received many awards for his contribution to literature. He has been reading and writing over 8 hours a day for years, making him a great writer.

Dear Jack,
Knowing that you are interested in Chinese scientists, I’m writing to introduce Tu Youyou to you.
As the first female Chinese scientist to receive a Nobel Prize, Tu has devoted herself to medical research. Faced with numerous failures and challenges, she and her team worked day and night to discover qinghaosu through trail and error. Finally, their efforts paid off, saving many malaria patients’ lives. What I have learnt from her is that I should never give up whatever difficulty I may face in my life.

“Oh, Mrs. Higaki, thank you,” Sumiko said. Surprised and confused, Mrs. Higaki asked, “How can this be Is this the dried-up plant I threw away ” “If you hadn’t thrown that little, withered plant away, I would never have had the chance to grow this wonderful flower.” Sumiko explained. Mrs. Higaki lifted Sumiko’s chin up and peered deep into her eyes. “I bet you will win first prize. ” Mrs. Higaki guessed. Then she made room for Sumiko’s flower on her cart. And off they went to the festival.
The festival was all Sumiko dreamed it would be. Her rainbow chrysanthemum won first prize as expected. The prize money she won was used to buy starter plants for her own flower garden. Sumiko used the money earned from the flower sales to help her mother cover the daily expenses. Looking back, Sumiko thought of the many times she had talked lovingly to the pitiful little plant and recalled how she carefully cared for it. It dawned on her that the real secret to planting flowers was working hard and pursuing our dreams bravely.

一般9-10 紧扣主题；基本覆盖所有要点, 能够表达基本内容；语言错误已影响了部分意思的表达, 但多数句子基本上正确。
较差6-8 内容不完整, 要点不全, 行文不连贯；语言错误(尤其大错)较多, 多数句子基本正确。

第三档 （11-15） -与所给短文关系较为密切，与所提供各段落开头语有一定程度的衔接。 -写出了若干有关内容。 -应用的语法结构和词汇能满足任务的要求，虽有一些错误，但不影响意义表达。 -应用简单的语句间连接成分，使全文内容连贯。

应用文写作评分细则：
1.本题总分为15分，按5个档次给分。
2.评分时，先根据文章的内容和语言初步确定其所属档次，然后以该档次的要求来衡量、确定或调整档次，最后给分。
3.词数少于60和多于100的，从总分中减去2分。
4.评分时，应注意的主要内容为：内容要点、应用词汇和语法结构的丰富性和准确性及上下文的连贯性。
5.拼写与标点符号是语言准确性的一个方面，评分时，应视其对交际的影响程度予以考虑。英、美拼写及词汇用法均可接受。
6.如书写较差，以致影响交际，将分数降低一个档次。
读后续写评分细则:
1.一切以国家评分标准为主要参考依据。
2.以15分为参考线，根据内容连贯性，情节的合理性以及语言质量定档给分（先看续写完成度，再看语言）。
3.由前文可知事实：“我种的菊花长得很大很漂亮”。要续写的第一段开头句句意“Sumiko要感谢Mrs. Higaki”，以及要续写的第二段开头句句意“这个Kyoto Chrysanthemum Festival一切如她所愿”，可推出在续写的第一段应写Sumiko和Mrs. Higaki俩人之间的对话，对话涉及Mrs. Higaki询问她感谢的原因以及Sumiko的解释。如没有写，则需进行降档或扣5分。
