Many famous and important people enjoyed visiting Brighton over the years. Now more than 400,000 tourists visit Brighton and the palace - the Royal Pavilion - every year.

We say things like: “You’re in my math class, aren’t you ” Or “I wish the bus would come, don’t you ” Small talk helps us pass the time pleasantly and in the dark lift we might talk to the person there with us—then we won’t feel so bad!

An invention is a new thing or a new way of doing something. TVs, cars, bikes —all of these were invented o 69 . Sometimes inventions are made when people have a problem and someone looks for a way to solve the problem. Most inventions come about after lots of hard work. Sometimes people invent one thing when they are trying to invent something e 70 .
Clint Lenz was nine years old when he invented the glow-in-the-dark(夜光) seat. He hated to find the toilet(盥洗室) in the dark. So Clint Lenz solved the problem by painting a toilet seat with glow-in-the-dark paint. That is how he became an inventor.
Rebecca Schroeder was ten years old when she invented s 71 that nurses now use in hospitals. When Rebecca Schroeder did her homework in the car after dark, she couldn’t see it.
L 72 Clint Lenz, Rebecca Schroeder solved her problem with glow-in-the-dark paint. She covered a clipboard (带夹子的写字板) with the paint. Then she could see the words on a paper that was on the clipboard.
Rebecca Schroeder used this i 73 to invent a sheet that could help people write in the dark. At night, nurses in hospitals need to take n 74 about sick people. If they use Rebecca Schroeder’s glow-in-the-dark sheet on their clipboard, they can write in the dark. Sick people can keep on sleeping.

She studied design for a while, and then decided she was not good at it. So she started studying acting.
She started as an actress in the 1960s. In 1971 she married an actor, Michael Williams. In the 1980s, she did a lot of work for television. She did not start making films until the 1990s. Then she starred (主演) in “Mrs Brown” as the British Queen Victoria, and as another queen, Queen Elizabeth, in “Shakespeare in Love”. She won an Oscar for her acting in this film.
The James Bond films made her much more famous abroad. She has been ‘M” in three of them. She is still working hard, and has a busy future, even though she is over 70 years old.

Ⅲ. Do you really care about your parents Hearing this question, most people may give a quick answer, “Of course, I do.” But maybe you don’t.
It is true that all parents can remember clearly when to celebrate their children’s birthdays. However, it is a pity that few children know exactly when their parents’ birthdays are. Most parents can easily name the food their children favor. The other way round, some students don’t know what their parents like most of all.
Sometimes we can hear parents complain that their children don’t talk with them as often as before. Children are growing and the generation gap is widening.
If you love your parents well, let them feel your love. Give them a birthday present on their special day, help them do some housework as often as possible, keep in mind what your parents like or don’t like. Don’t always say things against your parents. Talk with them more often and understand them more.
