Many people these days eat too much junk food, such as French fries and hamburgers. When they eat junk food, they become overweight. Because they are overweight, they don’t want to exercise. Why do people eat junk food There are many reasons. One reason is that it’s easier to open a bag of junk food like potato chips than it is to cook an egg. But an egg is much healthier. Another reason is that young children are given too much junk food by their parents and grandparents. Nicola Gram is a doctor who looks at how people eat and how happy they feel. She says, “It’s unhealthy to spoil children with food like chocolate and French fries and sugar drinks like coke. Instead, a good family should give children lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and drinks like juice and milk.”
But there is another reason why people are overweight. They are too busy. There are not enough hours in the day. To make time, people sleep less. But this is wrong, especially for children. Most children need eight hours’ sleep each night. If you don’t have enough sleep, it can make you unhappy in different ways. If you are tired during the day, you might not be able to study or work very well. This can make other people unhappy with you. If you don’t do your work well, you might have to catch up later, working late at night. Then the next day you are even more tired.
So, how can you be happy It’s easy. Stop eating junk food, get more sleep, and exercise three times a week. Start today!
