What do you want to be when you grow up 你长大想做什么 (P9)
1.when意为 “当……的时候”,引导时间状语从句。在时间状语从句
中,如果主句是一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时表示将来。
◎I will play basketball when I am free.当我有空时,我将去
打篮球。
2.want to be...意为“想要成为……”。want为及物动词。want to
do sth.想做某事;want sb.to do sth.想要某人做某事。
◎He wants to be a pilot.他想成为一名飞行员。
◎She wants her parents to pay for the car.她想让她的父母
付这辆小汽车的钱。
常见的引导时间状语从句的连词还有:while,as soon as,before,after,until等。
◎I’ll tell you as soon as he comes back.他一回来,我就告诉你。

◎The girl kept on walking for an hour.这个女孩继续走了一个

keep的其他用法:
1.keep doing sth.一直做某事
◎He kept working all day.他整天不停地工作。
2.keep+adj.保持,继续(处于某种状态)
◎You must keep quiet in the library.在图书馆里你一定要保
持安静。
3.keep sb.doing sth.让某人一直做某事
◎I’m sorry to keep you waiting for me.让你一直在等我,对
不起。
4.keep sb./sth.+adj./介词短语 保持某人/某物……
◎We have to keep the classroom clean and tidy.我们必须保
持教室干净整洁。

用法 例句
be sure about侧重指主语对某事物确信无疑 He said he was not sure about grammar and some of the idioms.他说他在语法和某些习语方面没把握。
用法 例句
be sure of意为“一定/必定会……”,侧重指主语一定会得到某事物 He is sure of success.他一定会成功。
make sure意为“查明,弄清楚;确保”,常用于祈使句,后面常接that引导的宾语从句或of介词短语 Make sure of his coming before you set off.出发之前要弄清楚他是否来。
I make sure that he likes the gift.我确保他喜欢这个礼物。

be able to和can 都意为“能够”。在表示能力时,can与be able to的意义差不多,一般两者可换用。
be able to 强调经过努力而获得某种能力,可用于多种时态,有数的变化,可以与情态动词、助动词连用
can 表示自身具备的能力,只有现在式和过去式两种形式
