Dear Peter,
Knowing that you are interested in traditional Chinese folk arts, I’d like to introduce you to one of them — Chinese paper-cutting.
Paper-cutting, also known as Jianzhi, has a long history. It simply requires a pencil, some red paper and a pair of scissors. First, fold the paper. Then, draw lines on it and cut out the lines. You’ll be amazed to see different patterns such as flowers and Chinese characters when it’s finished.
Paper-cutting is not only a beautiful art form but also a symbol of good luck and wishes. It’s often seen during festivals and on weddings.
I sincerely hope you can come over to join in a paper-cutting activity one day. I’ll be happy to help.
Best wishes,
Li Hua
