Innovation in sustainable transport has an exciting first: a group of electric public transportation buses in Israel is the first in the world to be powered by a commercial wireless charging terminal(终端), representing a milestone in sustainable travel.
An electric vehicle(EV)is defined as a vehicle that can be powered by an electric motor drawing electricity from a battery and that is capable of being charged from an external source. As Bus News reports, the site in Israel uses fixed wireless charging for parked urban electric buses, both at night and during the day, while the buses are parked at the public bus terminal.
Electreon, the company with the advanced wireless charging technology, is partnering with the Electra Afikim Company, a major Israeli transportation operator to deliver wireless EV bus charging in the center of Israel. As well as technology offer, Electre on manages the various construction stages, taking in electric infrastructure(基础设施)and civil engineering works.
Beyond the obvious appeal of the convenience that wireless EV charging offers, are a number of additional benefits that together seem likely to boost the greener transport that EVs offer. As CEO of Electreon, Oren Ezer, tells NoCamels, “We are promoting green public transportation in the city with the aim of reducing air pollution and continuing to improve the quality of life of the residents and the environment.”
Additionally, wireless charging is likely to encourage EV use as it cuts charging downtime(停机时间), and range(续航里程)anxiety. It also means that battery sizes can be reduced, making vehicles more sustainable, less costly, and lighter, with more space for passengers or goods. Another benefit is that multiple vehicles can charge at the same time from the same system without placing extra pressure on the electric grid(电网). The technique’s underground installation(安装)also means that there are no ugly visual impacts on the landscape.

29.How does wireless charging benefit the environment
A.Reduces air pollution. B.Increases battery size.

The Australian government has given the World Heritage Committee the most recent information on the measures it has taken to protect the Great Barrier Reef from human -made climate change.
Last June, the World Heritage Committee chose not to list the Reef as “in danger”, but asked Australia to give an update on its preservation measures by February 1.In the report, the government has shown how its policies and scientific research are helping to protect the heritage-listed reef. Improving water quality, tough new fishing restrictions and unusual experiments in “cloud brightening” are all listed in the report.
The government had invested $1.2 billion in the Reef, while the Queensland government had invested more than $1 billion since 2015.“The Great Barrier Reef is the best managed reef in the world and the report shows the significant action we are taking to protect this important natural wonder,” said Senator Nita Green.
Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has unveiled a new strategy to protect and restore the wetland areas of the Reef, which she said had decreased by over 50 per cent since European settlement.
Water quality improvements were a focus in the government’s report, after the Committee said they were concerned that it was taking too long to meet targets. 140,000 tons of sediment(沉积物)had been prevented from entering the Reef over the past decade. Gillnet (刺网)fishing was being gradually stopped using, with half the previously allowed number of licenses issued this month. Conservationists welcomed the ban on gillnets, but others warned the move could ruin the fishing industry.
These projects have been exploring whether it is possible to provide shade for coral reefs by artificially increasing the reflectiveness of clouds, or creating fogs to stop sunlight reaching below the sea surface.
32.What is the main focus of the report to the World Heritage Committee
A.Funding details. B.Preservation measures.
C.Environmental challenges. D.Economic impact on fishing.
33.What suggests that the Great Barrier Reef project is valued by the government
A.The creative experiment. B.The decrease in wetland areas.
C.The sediment run-off mapping. D.The amount of funding it has received.
34.What does the underlined word “unveiled” in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Covered. B.Announced.
C.Hidden. D.Removed.
35.What are conservationists’ views on the gillnet ban
A.Supportive. B.Doubtful.
C.Indifferent. D.Unclear.

On the sunny afternoon of April 21, 2021, Green Lake was a busy scene. Among the crowd was Ramsay, a local high school student.
Ramsay was drawing the calm scene, his notebook filled with drawings of the lake and its surroundings, when a sudden noise broke his concentration. A group of teenagers by the water’s edge was pointing and shouting towards the lake. Ramsay’s heart raced as he realized what was happening—a young boy was struggling in the water, too far from shore.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ramsay dropped his drawing board and rushed towards the lake. The distance to the struggling swimmer seemed large, but Ramsay dived into the water with determination. He swam with all his might towards the boy.
“Hold on! I’m coming!” Ramsay shouted, his voice cutting through the panicked cries from the shore.
The boy, who appeared to be about 13 years old, was moving desperately, his efforts to stay afloat growing weaker. Ramsay reached him just in time, grabbing him firmly. “It’s okay, I’ve got you. Don’t fight me,” Ramsay instructed, trying to calm the terrified boy.
With considerable effort, Ramsay began the exhausting swim back to shore, the boy holding onto him. Ramsay’s muscles screamed in protest, but the thought of saving the boy gave him the strength he needed. Finally, they reached the shallow water, where several adults rushed to help them onto dry land.
The boy, coughing and gasping(喘气), looked up at Ramsay with wide, grateful eyes. “Thank you,” he managed to say between breaths.
Ramsay, exhausted but relieved, simply nodded. “You’re okay now. Just be more careful,” he said gently.
The crowd that had gathered praised Ramsay for his bravery. But Ramsay felt no need for the praise. Seeing the boy safe was a high reward for him.
As the doctor and nurses arrived to check on the boy, Ramsay found a quiet spot to sit down. It was then that the boy approached him.

第二节
One possible version:
“I’m Alex,” the boy said, his voice still shaking. “I thought I was dying. Thank you very much!” Ramsay replied. “I just did what anyone should have done. I’m glad you’re okay, Alex.” Alex sat down beside him, a look of admiration on his face. “I’ve never seen anyone swim that fast. You’re a hero.” Ramsay laughed softly, shaking his head. “No, I’m not a hero. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.” The two sat in silence for a while, watching as life at the lake returned to normal. But for Ramsay and Alex, the day would remain unforgettable.
“Promise me something, Alex,” Ramsay said after a moment. “Stay safe, and maybe take some swimming lessons.” Alex nodded earnestly. “I will. And ... thank you, Ramsay. You saved my life.” As the sun began to set, Ramsay packed up his drawing board and walked home. He had started the day hoping to catch the beauty of the lake, but ended up playing an important role in a much more significant event. Walking home, Ramsay realized that being a hero isn’t about seeking recognition. It’s about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.

Text 10
M: Flaming Mountain is in China’s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In summer, the ground temperature can be as high as 70 degrees. The red rock hills look like fireballs at a distance, so its name comes into being. Flaming Mountain is located at the low point of the Turpan Basin. The hot air in the basin can’t easily spread. As a result, it becomes one of the hottest places on earth. However, many valleys hide behind the rock mountains. The most famous one is Grape Valley, which is best known for producing the best grapes in the country. After harvest, they are sent to shade houses for drying. There are many holes in the walls of the shade houses which not only help the wind blow in but also help avoid direct sunlight on grapes. It takes just 40 days for the fresh grapes to be dried by the hot air. White grape wine produced in the factory here is popular with guests.
