M: People say you’re doing work in the new season of My Fair Lady for free. Is this
what the show business has become
W: No, not really. All of my acting in the new season is unpaid, but the crew is paid.
This is to raise money for the promotion of the show.
M: I notice you’ve tried many different kinds of things: film, TV, and even theater.
W: Yeah, my company arranges me for all-rounded development, though I mainly
majored in theater in college.
M: Tell us about the six months you recently spent at the workshop of the film center.
W: I really benefited from this experience — teaching young actors and actresses and
working with some great acting artists. It’s very helpful for making you a really well-
rounded and active member of the film and television industry.
M: Thank you very much, Grace. We look forward to your new season.

(Text 10)
My mum has always told me to help others. One day last week I was walking back to
my home and I passed by an old lady who seemed to be in trouble. I turned back and
asked if she was OK, she explained that she was sick and had to struggle to walk with
her shopping bags. I offered to carry her things and walked her back home, but she
refused because she didn’t want to give me any trouble. I told her it didn’t matter and
her home was on my way home. It was a white lie. As I walked with her she talked with
me and introduced herself. I in turn told her my name. She asked if I knew Ray Robert.
I was shocked and said yes, that was my dad. It turned out that this lady was my dad’s
neighbor who had looked after my dad when my grandmother died thirty years ago. My
dad had often spoken of her but I had never met her as she had moved away with her
family. It was a lovely moment for both of us. When I got home and told my dad about
the incident, it made him cry. I was so moved. I am glad that my small active kindness
ended in a chance meeting that meant so much to the two people.

Last weekends witnessed an extraordinary event--Operas Go Into Campuses themed “Promote
Traditional Culture”, which nearly drew the attention of every student and teacher of our school.
All students gathered at the school square. At first, the headmaster announced the opening of
this event. During the course of the event, various activities were organized, including
video-watching, lectures and performances to provide a comprehensive understanding of
traditional operas.
The activity was highly spoken of, not only did it enrich our campus life, but also made us
experience the charm of traditional drama in flesh.
P1:However, the search didn’t proceed smoothly. All those huge leafy trees in the dense forest
formed a vision obstacle, making it almost impossible to see clearly from the sky. Jodeen then
made a decision: lowering the helicopter to a dangerous height, which might cause the helicopter
to run into those tree tops. But she had no time to think that much; all that was in her mind was to
find Joe soon. Jodeen steered her helicopter carefully through the dense forest, focusing on the
ground underneath. Then, suddenly she saw what she had been looking for — a splash of red
among the trees directly beneath, just like in her dream! “There he is!” she called excitedly over
the intercom, “I’ve got the car here!” Then Jodeen spotted a suitable field nearby. Hardly had
Jodeen landed when she jumped out. From the distance, Jodeen noticed there was a figure in the
car.
P2: Jodeen dashed towards the car immediately.--- After steeling herself for the worst, Jodeen
noticed that Joe’s arm was moving back and forth in a faint wave. Joe was alive! “I’ve finally
found you.” cried Jodeen excitedly. Joe groaned as if trying to respond. After a quick glance,
Jodeen realized Joe was very close to death. Jodeen yelled over the intercom, “He’s alive! We
need an ambulance!”As she called for help, her first thought was--- his family would be so happy!
In fact, it wasn’t only Joe’s family who celebrated the news. When the media announced Joe had
been found alive, there was a collective sigh of relief. After several months’ recovery, Joe received
an interview, when he owed his survival to the determination and persistence of his parents and
Jodeen “If they had harboured any doubts about my survival,I might have vanished in the dense
forest!”
