particularly interested in learning more about the activities and programs offered. I would appreciate
it if you could provide me with detailed information about the available projects.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your prompt response.

第二节(满分 15 分)
Possible version 1:
Deciding not to think about his bike temporarily, Cassius began to train. He knew that to be a
good boxer, he would need to work hard. Cassius got up extra-early every morning to run and train,
ate healthy food and even practiced his moves in the mirrors of the school bathrooms. Generally, he
became powerful and a triumph. He no longer planned to use his power to find a lost bike or defeat
a thief. He didn’t want to use his boxing skills to bully or hurt other people. He wanted to become
the best person he could be—as a boxer and as a human being!
Possible version 2:
Deciding not to think about his bike temporarily, Cassius began to train. Recognizing that to
excel as a boxer, he must devote himself to strict and thorough training. Each morning, Cassius rose

before dawn to run and practice his skills, adhered to a healthy diet, and even practiced his punches
in the school bathrooms’ mirrors. Gradually, he emerged as an awesome force, attaining great
success. However, he was determined no longer to utilize his power for dull tasks like locating a
lost bicycle or fighting with a thief. Neither did he want to use his boxing skills to bully or hurt other
people. He wanted to become the best person he could be—as a boxer and as a human being!
录音文稿
Text 1
W: So, we’ve agreed to go to Italy for our holiday, Jake. It might be nice to go in August.
M: Oh, it’ll be too hot then! June would be a better time to go. I can take a month off work then.
Text 2
W: Mike, why didn’t you buy a hat for your sister
M: There were a lot of hats to choose from, but I just didn’t know which one she’d like. It was easier
to choose a scarf and the assistant showed me some matching gloves, so I got those.
Text 3
M: Why aren’t you going to the party tonight
W: I have to help Grandma buy some clothes and then go to football practice, so I don’t have time.
Text 4
W: Oh, I wish it would stop raining!
M: Me too. The forecast says it’s going to be sunny and windy at the weekend, but the next two
days are going to be much the same as today.
Text 5
W: John, look at that woman in the red dress. She does look familiar. Did she work with you in the
past
M: No. Maybe it’s somebody who lives near us
W: I don’t think so. Oh, I remember. She was in the same high school as me.
Text 6
W: Jack, it’s 9:00 now. You are half an hour late for work!
M: I’m sorry. I left home at 7:30, but traffic was tied up all over the city because of the weather, and
my bus was late again.
W: It’s the third time this month that you’ve been late. It’s getting to be a bad habit with you.
M: I’ll come on time tomorrow, even if it means getting up at 7. I promise I’ll be on time for the
rest of the week.
W: I hope so. If this happens again, I’ll have to do something about it.
Text 7
W: We need to tidy the house up before the party tomorrow, Alexander.
M: Well, isn’t there anything else I can do, Carol You know I don’t like tidying up. You’re much
better at doing it than I am.
W: Hmm. Well, I’ve already bought all the food and drink so we don’t need any shopping.
M: I suppose I could sort out the music for tomorrow.
W: That won’t take you very long. I know! Why don’t you do something really useful I asked your
mother if we could borrow some of her plates. You could go and get them.
M: Okay, I’ll go now.

W: Steve, just think, this time tomorrow evening, we’ll be on stage.
M: How are you feeling Nervous
W: Actually, I’m feeling OK. I think the musical is going to be a great success this year.
M: I agree with you, although we’ve made some mistakes when practicing. Do you remember when
Paul ran onto the stage at the wrong moment That was the funniest thing of all.
W: Even Mrs. Stevens. You don’t often see her laugh. She takes her job very seriously.
M: A bit too seriously sometimes. Anyway, what about you, Anna You seem more relaxed than last
year. You didn’t like that role, did you
W: I didn’t want to play such an important role last year. I am in relief because I act a small part this
year.
M: And Sandra is happy to be the star of the show. In my opinion, her acting isn’t as good as yours.
W: Do you think so Anyway, everyone’s much happier this year.
Text 9
W: Cliff! I haven’t seen you since we finished college.
M: Ann! I hardly recognized you! You’ve let your hair grow. How old are you now Twenty-seven
W: Yes, I am. And you’re two years younger, and you look exactly the same. What are you doing
M: Teaching. I still live in London, teaching in a high school there. Are you teaching too
W: No, I got married last year and had a baby recently.
M: Congratulations!
W: Thanks. So I left my job to look after the baby. My husband got a job in Cardiff, so we’ve moved
there. Do you remember Tammy The beautiful girl from Bristol.
M: Yes. What’s she doing, looking after the children, being a housewife
W: Never. She works full-time; she writes articles for the newspapers, very successful. She’s been
on television once or twice.
M: Have you seen any of the others
W: One or two. Let’s go for a cup of coffee somewhere, and I’ll tell you about them.
M: Okay.

I’m going to tell you about the Jones Memorial Library here in our town. Most of you are full-
time students — you may find you spend a lot of time here. Even those of you who are part-time
students and distance learners will no doubt require the services too. This new building has been
here for only two months, and we have not quite finished moving in the French collection. As you
can see, we are still building the new restaurant. We have finished the café, and students can use it
during the opening hours. Also, we will be adding another 100 computers shortly, so there will be
plenty for everybody very soon.
This is the main part of the library, but we also have the Rivergate building and the Fieldhouse
building. The Rivergate building houses the geography resources. The Fieldhouse building has a
collection of local history and if you want to visit it, you’ll need to go to our website to book your
place first. All our college libraries are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Now,
any questions
