本单元的主题是介绍人物外貌或性格特征，本节课是本单元的第二课时，属于词汇课。教材通过张鹏和Oliver谈论各科老师的情景，呈现了本课的重点词汇：old、young、funny、kind、strict。本单元的内容与日常生活息息相关，容易激发学生的学习兴趣。学生能够借助图片和文字询问并回答关于人物性格或外貌特征的问题，同时树立正确的审美观，避免以貌取人。

教师创设学校全体老师要参加灯光秀的场景，邀请学生一同去参加，提高学生的兴趣，为后面详细介绍每个老师的外貌和性格特点做铺垫。

T: Yes! They are looking at the notice board. Look!

（1）新授old
T: Look! Who’s he
Ss: Mr Young.
T: Yes! Mr Young is a music teacher. He is friendly and old.
教师通过图片展示，让学生明确单词old的含义。学生朗读old，教师纠正发音，指导拼写。

Ss: Yes, he is.
教师指导学生在句子中运用单词，新授过程中做到词不离句。学生之间进行对话，巩固单词和一般疑问句的运用。

以同样的方式学习新词young。
教师指导学生在句子中运用单词，通过对话练习，帮助学生巩固单词，并运用一般疑问句进行问答。教师提醒学生注意an art teacher中art以元音音素开头，表示单个要用an。
（3）新授funny
以同样的方式学习新词funny。
教师指导学生science的发音和拼写。
（4）新授kind
以同样的方式学习新词kind。
教师提醒学生an English teacher注意元音字母开头，表示单个要用an。
（5）新授strict
以同样的方式学习新词strict。
同时教师提醒学生注意maths单词本身结尾就有s。
