that 引导的宾语从句
(1)定义:宾语从句是英语中用来充当宾语的句子
(2) 构成:“引导词+主语+谓语+其他”
I believe (that) you are a person of good character. 我相信你是一个声誉良好的人。
(3) 类型:
①动词+(that)从句,如 believe, expect, explain, feel, forget, guess, hear, hope, imagine, know, prefer, promise, remember, report, say, see, tell, think, understand, warn, wish 等时,其后面的宾语从句一般用 that 引导。
I don’t think (that) the girl can do the work alone. 我认为这个女孩不能独自做这份工作。
②be+形容词+(that)从句。这类形容词多表示感情,如 afraid, certain, glad, happy, pleased, sad, satisfied, sorry, sure, surprised 等。
I am glad (that) you can come for dinner. 我很开心你能来吃晚餐。
2. if/whether引导的宾语从句
当宾语从句是由一般疑问句转化来时,就用if 或whether来引导,if、whether在句子中不充当任何成分,但有一定的意义,所以不可以省略。例如:
He asked me if (whether) I could help him. 他问我是否可以帮助他。
特别提醒:在下列情况只能用whether引导:
① 连接词后面有or not时只能用whether引导。例如:
I wonder whether or not I should buy the house. 我想知道我是否该买这个房子。
② 在介词后面只能用whether。例如:
Let’s talk about whether we should give up the project. 咱们讨论一下我们应不应该放弃这个项目。
③ 宾语从句置于句首时只能用whether引导。例如:
Whether you agree with me, let me know. 告诉我你是否同意我的意见。
④ 和动词不定式(to do)连用作宾语时只能用whether。例如:
I can’t decide whether to give them a hand. 我决定不下是否要帮他们一把。
3.连接代词和连接副词引导的宾语从句
用连接代词(what、which、who、whom、whose)和连接副词(where、when、how、why等)引导宾语从句,连接代词和副词有具体含义,并在从句中充当成分,因此不可省略。
I wonder what they are looking for. 我想知道他们在找什么。
We don’t know who locked the door. 我们不知道是谁锁的门
I am not sure whose notebook this is. 我不确定这是谁的笔记本。
They knew when Jim would come. 他们知道吉姆什么时候会来。
4.宾语从句的语序:要用陈述语序,即:(连接词)+主语+谓语 +其他。
5.宾语从句的时态:a.主句是一般现在时,从句中谓语动词的时态不受限制;
I am not sure whose notebook this is. 我不确定这是谁的笔记本。
b.主句是一般过去时,从句中也必须要用过去的某种时态;
They knew when Jim would come. 他们知道吉姆什么时候会来。
c.当宾语从句表示客观真理、科学原理、自然现象、名言时,用一般现在时
The teacher said two and three makes five. 老师说二加三等于五。
