Danny：Look at this yellow star, Brian and Jenny! Isn't it beautiful？I'm going to hang it from the ceiling over the desk.
Brian： Let me get the ladder for you.
Danny： I don't need a ladder. I think I'm tall enough.
(Danny can't reach the ceiling, so he climbs onto Mr. Jones' chair.)
Danny： Almost...Almost... Aaaaaaahhhh!
(Danny falls.)
Mr. Jones: What was that noise？！
(He sees Danny lying on the floor.)
Mr. Jones: Danny, are you all right Are you hurt
Danny: Hmm...My tail hurts a little, but it's not serious.
Brian：(He whispers.)Help!
(They hear Brian's cry for help，but his voice is very weak.)
Mr. Jones: What was that noise？！
(He sees Danny lying on the floor.)
Mr. Jones: Danny, are you all right Are you hurt
Danny: Hmm...My tail hurts a little, but it's not serious.
Brian：(He whispers.) Help!

Jenny：Shall I call an ambulance？
Brian：No，that's not necessary. I don't think my arm is broken.
Mr. Jones：Jenny，please call Brian's mother. Tell her we are taking Brian to the hospital.

【用法】作形容词，意为“小心的、仔细的”，在句中作定语或表语。它的副词形式是carefully。
【举例】
① Li Hong is a careful girl. She does everything carefully.

【用法】句式try to do something 意为“尽力做某事”；
类似句式try doing something 则表示“尝试做某事”。

3. I don’t think my arm is broken. 我认为我的胳膊没有折。
【用法】在动词think, believe, expect, guess等后面的宾语从句中的谓语动词如果是否定形式，这一否定形式往往转移到主句中，也就是主句成了否定形式，而从句成了肯定形式，但实际上还是否定的从句。
【举例】

我相信他们是不会赶上我们的。
