keep+宾语+形容词,意为“使……保持某种状态”。 You can't sneeze and keep your eyes open at the same time.

half of…意为“一半的……”,后接名词时,一般要在名词前加the、形容词性物主代词或指示代词等。
此结构作主语时谓语动词和of后的名词保持一致。即:若of后的名词是复数则谓语动词用复数形式;若of后的名词是可数名词单数或不可数名词,则谓语动词用单数形式。

as可作连词,意为“随着,当……时”。
eg:As time went by, the environment got worse and worse.

辨析 while,when 与 as

while 表示“在……的时候,在……期间”。它强调主句的动作与从句的动作同时发生或主句的动作发生在从句动作进行的过程中。while从句中的谓语动词必须是延续性动词。
when 表示“当……的时候”。从句中的谓语动词既可用延续性动词,又可用非延续性动词,这些动词既可以表示动作,又可以表示状态。也就是既可以指较短的时间(即某一具体时间),也可以指一段时间。主句和从句的动作可以同时发生,也可以先后发生。
as 与以上两词同义,常可与when或while通用,但它着重指主句和从句的动作同时发生,不是一前一后。因此,还可意为“一边……一边……”。
辨析 stop doing sth. 与 stop to do sth.

stop doing sth. 停止正在做的事,doing sth.作宾语。
stop to do sth. 停下(正在做的事)去做另一件事,
to do sth.作目的状语。
