While-reading
The passage is divided into two parts: the poem The Road Not Taken written by Robert Frost and the introduction, explanation or interpretation of the poem.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both 可惜我无法兼顾,
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could 极目望向一条路的尽头,
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 它蜿蜒拐进远方的灌木丛;
Then took the other, as just as fair;
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear; 它荒草萋萋,诱人涉足;
Though as for that, the passing there 即便如此,旅人的足迹
Had worn them really about the same, 让两条路看起来相差无几,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step bad trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, 明知道路径延绵,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence: 我会回顾往事轻声叹息:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- 树林中有两条路,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Rhyming words may make it easier to read and recite the poem, because they make the rhythm of the poem fairly obvious.

Your opinion
The poem The Road Not Taken is one of America’s best-loved poems and it’s about choice.
The 1st one in the text interprets the poem as a call for the future without regret.
The 2nd interpretation maintains the poem is really about accepting the consequences of our choices years in the future when it’s too late to change then.
I think the one in the text is more convincing. For one thing, its analysis accords with my past experience. For another thing, the text enables me to learn how to make a decision more widely in the future.

1. Whether big or small, what all our choices have in
common is that they lead to specific consequences.
[句式分析] whether ... or... 还是...”, 引导让步状语, what all our choices have in common 是what引导的主语从句, what 在从句中作表语;that引导表语从句。
2. Like the writer, all we can do is look backwards “with a
sigh” and imagine what could have been.
[句式分析] we can do 为省略关系词that的定语从句,修饰先行词all;look backwards “with a sigh” and imagine 为省略不定式符号to的动词不定式短语作表语;what could have been是what引导的宾语从句,作imagine的宾语。
3. This sigh, this wondering whether we made the right
choice, is understandable.
[句式分析] This sigh, this wondering whether we made the right choice在句子中作主语,其中whether引导同位语从句,解释说明动名词wondering的具体内容。

Dear Ms Lee,
I wish to apply for the position of office assistant as advertised in China News Report on 11 July.
Skilled in the use of computers, I also have a great interest in online technology. I believe my skills would enable me to contribute to the smooth operation of your office. As I plan to work in an administrative post after graduation, I would welcome the opportunity to gain experience in this field.
As stated in my attached CV, I am well prepared for a variety of tasks, including document filing, photocopying and arranging refreshments. English is my native language, and I’m majoring in French at university.
Although I have not held the position of office assistant before, I did work in a major department store for a few weeks, five days per week on morning shift, and I was regarded as a valuable addition to the sales team. I am capable of learning quickly, and willing to start with the basics wherever it is necessary.
Should you consider me a suitable candidate to interview, I’m contactable at your convenience at samhanson@ or by phone on 8969-7616. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Sam Hanson
