(1)Whether or not you can do this well是Whether引导的主语从句,在句中充当主语,其中Whether是连接词,表示“是否”。

(2)depend on意为“取决于;依赖于;依靠”,后可跟名词、代词或动名词。
3.It is also easier for you to pay attention to it for a long time.对于你来说长时间关注它也更容易。(教材 P6)
pay attention to意为“注意;关注”,其中to为介词,后面常接名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。

易混点1　动名词的用法
1.作主语
Learning English well isn’t easy.
【拓展】可改为“It’s+adj.+to do sth.”结构。其中it是形式主语,其后的to do sth.作真正的主语。
*It’s not easy to learn English well.
2.作宾语
位于及物动词如finish,enjoy,keep,practice等之后。
*You can’t go out and play before you finish doing your homework.
在你完成作业之前,你不能出去玩。
位于以介词结尾的动词短语如give up,do well in, look forward to等之后。
*I will never give up doing sports because I hope I will be healthier.

易混点2　ability
ability作名词,意为“能力;才能”。表示抽象意义的“能力”时,为不可数名词;表示不同种类的能力或特指某方面的天分时,为可数名词,常用于短语 have the ability to do sth.,意为“有做某事的能力”。
