过去进行时(二)
1.用法:过去进行时可以与when, while引导的时间状语从句连用,构成复合句。本模块将重点讲解when和while引导的时间状语从句与过去进行时的用法。
2.过去进行时可以与when引导的时间状语从句连用,构成复合句的情况。
“主句(过去进行时) + when 从句(一般过去时)”是常用的一个句型。when意为“在那时,当时”,含有“突然”的意思。
*I was having dinner when the phone rang.
我正在吃晚饭,电话铃突然响了。
when和while引导的从句在用法上的区别
when while
when引导的时间状语既可以指时间点,也可以指时间段 while引导的时间状语只指时间段
when从句中的动词可以是延续性动词,也可以是终止性动词 while从句中的动词必须是延续性动词
when从句中的动作和主句中的动作可以同时发生,也可以先后发生 while强调主句动作发生在从句动作发生的过程中或与从句动作同时发生

pay attention的用法如下:
(1)“注意;留心”,用于提醒他人注意。
(2)pay attention to “注意;留意”,to 为介词,后接名词、代词或动名词。
(3)pay attention to +宾语从句。

else的用法如下:
(1)用作形容词时常常作后置定语,位于疑问代词who,what,which等后面,或者放在something,anything,nothing,anyone,everyone等不定代词之后。
(2)else用作副词时通常放在疑问副词when,where,how等后面。
(3)else 和other的辨析
两者意义相同,都表示“别的;其他的”。区别如下:
else 位于疑问代词或不定代词之后 what else, who else, something else, nobody else等
位于疑问副词或不定副词之后 where else, when else, somewhere else, anywhere else等
other 作定语,位于所修饰的名词之前 other things, other people等
