A person comes towards you and says "hi". But you have no idea who he or she is . If you often experience this, you may have face blindness (脸盲).
A new study showed that face blindness might be more common than we thought. One in 33 people may have it. Some have serious problems. They cannot even recognize friends or families. But some just have smaller problems. They spend a long time remembering faces. People could be born with face blindness, or develop it if they hurt their brain.
Face blindness sounds like just a small problem. But according to Joseph DeGutis, the writer of the study, people with it may have a bad social life. "Recognizing someone is a social signal. It means 'you are important to me', " DeGutis told Harvard Medicine News. Not recognizing others may lead to misunderstanding, and then fewer friends. Worry about recognizing faces may also make people stay away from social life.
Here are signs of face blindness. In films, you sometimes fail to tell the difference between characters. When a close friend changed their hairstyle, you couldn't recognize them. When you meet a new group of people, it takes a long time before you can recognize each person. You're not famous, but lots more people recognize you than you can recognize in return. If you see a person in two different places (for example in your school and in a shopping mall), you might think of them as two different people.
In the past, people paid little attention to this. The studies on face blindness only began in the 1990s. Today, more scientists and organizations are working to tell more people about face blindness and its effects on our social life.

C. They might want to know more about face blindness.
D. They might start to feel worried about your social life.
14.According to Paragraph 3, what might people with face blindness do

Friends are people who share similar values with us.And keeping strong friendships is an important part in most people's life.Friendships can help us fight against loneliness, get rid of anxiety(焦虑) and have better physical health. But it's hard to keep a friendship.
According to a research led by Megan Robbins, a professor at the University of California, the key to keeping a friendship is to use “we-talk”.The researchers examined 30 different studies on over 5,000 people. This largest-ever analysis(分析)of “we-talk” suggested that the more we use the words”“ we”and “us”, the happier and healthier relationships will be.The word” makes people much closer to each other. “It offers a deep understanding on whether people regard themselves as individuals (个体)or as a part of the whole. The use of words is a window that we can know about what people are thinking and feeling without asking themselves, Robbins said. Her research also found that “we-talk”was helpful to solve conflicts(冲突).It may bring about positive(正面的) thinking on the opposite side.
Comparing with “we-talk”, there is “I-talk”, which refers to the use of “I”, “me”,and “mine”more often when writing or speaking.Earlier, researchers from the University of Arizona, the US, examined a set of data that came from 4, 700 people. They found that too much”I-talk”showed that someone was feeling stressed or experiencing negative feelings.
The two studies suggested that too much “I-talk” may make us feel bad.But “we-talk” may encourage us to be more positive. So next time when you're talking to a friend, try using more “we-talk”.you may find yourself feeling more positive and the effects it has on your friend may be positive as well.

Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying. “Friends are God s way of taking care of us.” But how do you find real friendship and keep it
The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends.
Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed(种子)and take care of it to make it grow.
First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and friendly. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints and do his or her best to help. To make a friend, you cannot be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives.
But things cannot always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friends You can have a talk to him or her. If he or she doesn t want to talk, you could write a letter.
There are three steps to being friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life.

First of all, it's a good way to practice by keeping a diary in English. I can use the words, sentence patterns and grammar that I have learnt in my diary. Besides, it's important to read English novels. Try to guess the new words' meanings instead of looking them up. What's more, I improve my speaking and listening skills through role-play games. It is so fun that I enjoy myself very much.
