What is the most famous diary in the world The answer may be the Diary of a Wimpy Kid(<小屁孩日记>). The series is full of bright and funny 1 about Greg Heffley, a middle school student. Greg gets a diary from his mother. In it he writes down his everyday life at school, which is 2 with interesting things and adventures (冒险).
US writer Jeff Kinney wrote these books. He has published seven Wimpy Kid books 3 2007 and 2012, which have sold more than 115 million copies worldwide. In addition to the books, there have been three movies. The 4 book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck came out on Nov 5, 2013.
Before writing a book, Kinney first finds 350 jokes, then develops them into a story. He also draws the cartoons 5 .
In fact, Kinney liked cartoon drawing at university.
"I really wanted to be a newspaper cartoonist, but nobody liked my work," Kinney told Los Angeles Times.
So he took jobs doing newspaper, software(软件) and game design. And then in early 1998 he came up with the idea of a 6 diary. This was not entirely new. Sue Townsend's The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4(《艾德里安,摩尔的秘密日记,十三又四分之三岁》) 7 out in 1982. But Kinney's Simple yet vivid(生动的)drawings gave the idea a new look.
After years of improving characters, Kinney sold the manuscript (手稿). It became the Wimpy Kid series in 2006.
"I made mistakes. I wasn't that smart. I wasn't that brave," Kinney recalls (回忆) his 8 middle school years. He gives Greg these flaws (缺陷). Kids can learn a lesson from watching Greg's behavior (行为).

Remember me
Remember me
I am the boy who sought friendship;
The boy you turned away.
I the boy who asked you
If I too might play.
I the face at the window
When your party was inside,
I the lonely figure(人物)
That walked away and cried.
I the one who hung around,
A punchbag for your games.
Someone you could kick and beat,
Someone to call names.
But how strange is the change
After time has hurried by.
Four years have passed since then
Now I'm not so quick to cry.
I'm bigger and I'm stronger,
I've grown a foot in height,
Suddenly I'm popular
And YOU'RE left out the light.
I could, if I wanted, Be so unkind to you.
I would only have to say
And the other boys would do.
But the memory of my pain
Holds back the revenge(报复;复仇)I’ d planned
And instead, I feel much stronger
By offering you my hand.

And so it was indeed: she was now only ten inches high, and her face brightened up when she found that she was now the right size for going through the little door into that lovely garden. First, however, she waited for a few minutes to see whether she was going to become smaller: she felt a little nervous about this; "for it might end, you know," said Alice to herself, "in my going out altogether, like a candle. I wonder what I should be like then."
After a while, she found that nothing more happened, so she decided to go into the garden at once; but when she got to the door, she found she has forgotten the little golden key, and when she went back to the table for it, she found she could not possibly reach it: she could see it clearly through the glass, and she tried her best to climb up one of the legs of the table, but it was too slippery; and when she had tired herself out with trying, the poor little thing sat down and cried.
"Come, there's no use in crying like that!" said Alice to herself, rather sharply; "I advise you to stop this minute!" She often gave herself very good advice, though she seldom followed it.
Soon her eyes fell on a little glass box. It was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake with the words "Eat me" on it. "Well, I'll eat it," said Alice, "and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care what happens!"
She ate a little bit, and said anxiously to herself, "Which way Which way " holding her hand on the top of her head to feel which way it was growing, and she was quite surprised to find that she still had the same size. So she set to work, and very soon ate up the cake.
Very soon her head struck against the roof of the hall. In fact she was now more than nine feet high, and she at once took up the little golden key and hurried off to the garden door.
Poor Alice! It was as much as she could do, lying down on one side, to look through into the garden with one eye; but to get through was more hopeless than ever: she sat down and began to cry again.
