PPT 内容 旁白
首页 Hi, everyone. Nice to see you again. We’ve already read about how the Greeks won the Trojan War through a trick. But do you have any idea how the war started
目标 In today’s lesson, we will listen to the start of the Trojan War. Then we’ll play an interesting game. You can pretend to be any famous person or character you like. Sounds fun Let’s start the lesson.
复习 First, let’s have a review of the story by talking about the night of the horse according to the pictures. You can talk to yourself. Let’s start. 【练习1.5分钟】 You can talk about the night of the horse like this. Before night, the Trojans found the Greeks sailed away and left the horse. The captain ordered to move the horse into the city. At night, the Trojans celebrated around the horse. Then they all went to sleep including the gate guards. After midnight, six Greek soldiers climbed out of the horse and opened the city gates. The Greek army entered the city and seized the captain. The Greeks won the war.
听前 In the story, the start of the Trojan War, there are a lot of characters from Greek legends. Do you know how to pronounce their name 【停顿】Now, read after me, Paris, Paris, Zeus, Zeus, Aphrodite, Aphrodite, Helen, Helen, Menelaus, Menelaus. Do you have any idea who they are 【停顿】You can have a prediction based on their looks.【停顿】Now listen to part of the story and check if your prediction is right. 【播放录音25秒】 Do you have a right prediction Let’s check who they are. Paris is the son of the King of Troy, so he is the prince of Troy. Zeus is the King of the Gods. Aphrodite is a goddess. Helen is the Queen of Sparta and Menelaus is the King of Sparta.
听力排序 Now, open your book and turn to page 10. You are going to put the pictures in the correct order when you listen to the story. Before that, you need to have a general idea of who are in the pictures. If the pictures can’t tell you the exact characters, at least, you can think about the events the pictures show. 【停顿】Now, let’s start. 【播放录音1分50秒】 Here is the answer. Have you put them in the right order
听力填词 When we listen to a story, it’s very important to have a general idea of the main events. Listen to the recording again and complete the sentences on your worksheet. Let’s start. 【播放录音1分36秒】 Let’s check the answers. Paris was asked to decide which goddess was the most beautiful. Paris chose Aphrodite. Paris sailed to Troy. Paris and Helen fell in love. Paris took Helen to Troy. The Greeks and Trojans fought for ten years. Now we know how the Trojan War started. Paris played an important role in this whole event. If you want to have a further understanding of a character, you need to focus on the details, like why and how he did something.
听细节 In order to know Paris better, we are going to listen to the story again, focusing on the details. Try to answer the questions. Why did Paris choose Aphrodite Why did Paris sail to Sparta When did Paris take Helen to Troy Let’s start. 【播放录音1分36秒】 Have you got the answers Why did Paris choose Aphrodite Because Aphrodite promised to make the most beautiful woman fall in love with him. So Paris chose Aphrodite not because of her beauty but because of her promise. Why did Paris sail to Sparta To meet the most beautiful woman, Queen Helen of Sparta. Aphrodite promised that Helen would fall in love with Paris. When did Paris take Helen to Troy As soon as King Menelaus left Sparta. King Menelaus welcomed Paris and held dinner for him. But in return, Paris took his wife to Troy behind his back.
介绍Paris Suppose you are Paris. Can you say something about yourself Let’s start. 【练习2分钟】
呈现 Let’s take a look at how my student, Mark pretends to be Paris and introduces himself. I’m Paris, the prince of Troy. When Zeus asked me to decide which goddess was the most beautiful, I chose Aphrodite because she promised to make the most beautiful woman fall in love with me. I sailed to see Helen, the Queen of Sparta, and we fell in love. I took her back to Troy as soon as King Menelaus left Sparta. When he found out, he called many other Greek kings to help him attack us. That’s how the Greeks and Trojans started the war. Mark tells us who he is and what he did to cause the start of the Trojan War. He also shows us the reason why he chose Aphrodite and when he took Helen to Troy. The details help us know Paris well. Good job.
第一个对话 Do you like pretending to be a famous person or character Several students are playing the game ‘Who am I’ in groups. Listen to their dialogue and find out how they play the game. 【播放录音20秒】 Do you have an idea how they play the game One student pretends to be a famous person or character. In the dialogue, one of them pretends to be Mickey Mouse, a cartoon character. The other students take turns asking ‘Yes/No’ questions. That’s why the game is challenging. And the student answers Yes or No.
第二个对话 Let’s listen to the second example and answer the questions. What difficulty do they have when asking questions What clue does the student give them Is the clue helpful Let’s listen. 【播放录音40秒】 What difficulty do they have when asking questions They don’t know what question to ask. When the others have trouble asking questions, the student can give them a clue. What clue does the student give them I used to live in China, over half a century ago. Is the clue helpful Yes, it is. Based on this clue, the others ask more questions and successfully get the answer. A clue is a fact that helps other students discover the answer instead of just giving them the answer. So when we give a clue, we are supposed to give useful information to lead the others to the answer. But we also need to be careful not to give away too much information.
练习 Let’s have a try. Suppose you are Helen and your classmates have difficulty asking questions. Can you give them a proper clue 【思考0.5分钟】 Here are four possible answers. Which one do you think is a good clue First one, I’m the Queen of Sparta. It just directly tells others that you are Helen. So does the second one. Only Helen fell in love with Paris, so the clue is too obvious. How about the third one Although Helen went to Troy later with Paris, she was from Sparta. So this clue may confuse others. I think the fourth clue is better than others because there are lots of characters in Greek legends, which enables others to keep asking questions.
产出 Suppose you are Paris. Design three clues to let your classmates guess who you are. Be careful not to leave too much information at first. 【练习2分钟】 Let’s take a look at the clues my student Cindy designed. I’m a prince. Good. It’s much better than I’m the prince of Troy. There is a story between me and an apple. Nice job. If it says a golden apple, it becomes obvious. I believe love is more important than anything else. That’s why Paris chose Aphrodite and took Helen to Troy. Three useful clues. Good job.
作业 Since it’s impossible to play the game in class, you can do it with your classmates after class. Here is your homework. See you next time.
