A detective story
At eleven last night, a couple found a man’s body in the doorway of the house.
When they saw the body of the man, they were so amazed that they called the police at once. The police arrived in five minutes. Then the police made notes on the three suspects-the couple and a strong cook who were the victim’s neighbours. The police asked the couple if they had seen anything unusual. They said that they had nothing to do with the case because they were having a party.
The police also asked another neighbour. He was a cook. He said he had never seen the victim before and did not know anything about the case. Also, a witness said that he saw a strong man of medium height coming out of the building in a hurry at about 9 o’clock last night. The strong man looked very nervous and breathed heavily.
At the crime scene, the police found a knife which was covered in blood and a gun. At last, the blood and the fingerprints that were checked turned out to be the cook’s. The cook murdered the man for money. He was arrested for theft and murder.
