在学习本节课内容之前，五年级学生已经掌握了一些用英语交流的基本能力，对动词、名词等词性也具备了简单的辨别和理解能力；课堂上，他们能够根据教师的指令完成学习任务，并丰富自己已有的知识体系。
教材分析
本单元中，在李明等人坐火车去北京的情境下，学生要学习祈使句和现在进行时，本课为本单元的第二课，课题为“What Are You Doing?”。是在第一课祈使句学习的基础上的一堂会话课，学生将深入祈使句的理解，并初次系统感知并理解现在进行时。
