状语从句(Adverbial Clause) 是指句子用作状语时,起副词作用的句子。 状语从句根据其作用可分为时间、地点、原因、条件、目的、结果等从句。 状语从句一般由连词(从属连词)引导,也可以由词组引起。
While John was watching TV, his wife was cooking. (时间状语从句)当约翰看电视时,他的妻子正在做饭。
He didn’t attend classes yesterday because he was ill. (原因状语从句)他病了,所以他昨天没有来上课。
He got up so early that he caught the first bus. (目的状语从句)他很早起床以便赶上第一班公共汽车。
We’ll start our project if the president agrees. (条件状语从句)
如果总统同意,我们将开始我们的项目。
if条件状语从句的定义:if引导的从句在复合句中表示条件,作主句的条件状语,称为条件状语从句,表示假如从句的动作发生,主句的动作就(不)会发生。
if条件状语从句的位置:
if引导的条件状语从句既可以放在主句前,也可以放在主语后,若if从句在主句前,用逗号与主句隔开;若if从句在主句后,中间不用任何符号。
句子结构:If+从句+主句=主句+if+从句。
(从句谈论可能的活动,主句谈论可能的结果)
It will be sunny tomorrow.
We will have a trip tomorrow.
We will have a trip if it is sunny tomorrow.
If it is sunny tomorrow, we will have a trip.
主句在前从句紧跟其后
从句在前时,用“,”与主句隔开

If引导的条件状语从句的时态:
1.当主句用一般将来时时,if引导的条件状语从句用一般现在时。 (即主将从现)
注意:if引导的条件状语从句通常不用一般将来时。
If he gets up late,he will be late for school.
如果你想聊天,打我电话。
If it rains tomorrow,I will stay at home.
如果明天下雨,我将呆在家里。
改同义句:
He will be late for school if he gets up late.
I’ll stay at home if it rains tomorrow.
2.如果主句是祈使句,那么从句通常要用一般现在时the simple present tense。 (即主祈从现)
If you want to have a chat, call me up.
如果你想聊天,打我电话。
Don't wait for me if I am late.
如果我迟到,就别等我。
改同义句:
Call me up if you want to have a chat.
If I am late,don't wait for me.
3.如果主句是含有must,can,may 等情态动词时,根据需要从句多用一般现在时the simple present tense。(即主情从现)
You can pass the exam if you work hard.
如果你努力学习,你就能通过这次考试。
You must stop if the traffic light is red.
如果交通灯是红色,你必须停下来。
改同义句:
If you work hard,you can pass the exam.
If the traffic light is red,you must stop.
4.表示真实条件、客观真理、自然现象、定理定义、 民间谚语等,句型是:If + 句子 (一般现在时 ),+ 主句 ( 一般现在时).(即主现从现)

advice是不可数名词,不能说a advice, 而是a piece of advice,
“两个建议”,我们通常说two pieces of advice.
注意:piece要采用复数,advice不可数,但piece可数。
我们也可以说为some pieces of advice一些建议。
与advice有关的一些词组:give sb. some advice 给某人一些建议
ask sb. for advice 征求某人的意见
take/follow sb.’s advice 听从某人的意见
辨析:advice与suggestion
advice 不可数名词。表示“一条建议”用 a piece of advice。 I asked my teacher for some advice/ a piece of advice.
suggestion 可数名词,复数形式为suggestions。 I asked my teacher for some suggestions/ a suggestion.
