形容词、副词的最高级的用法
当我们将三个或三个以上的人或事物进行某一特征的比较时,
要用形容词或副词的最高级来表达。
1.表示三者或三者以上比较,可用”Which/Who …
+最高级,…,…or … ”表示.
e.g. Who is the tallest, Tom , Mike , or Jack
2. 序数词修饰最高级
e.g. Mike is the second tallest student in our class.

1.规则变化
单音节词和少数双音节词在词尾加-est, 多音节和大部分双音节词在前面加most。具体见下表:

单音节和少数双音节词 一般在词尾加-est new hard newest hardest
以不发音的字母e 结尾的词 直接加-st wide large widest largest
以“辅音字母+y” 结尾的词,变y为i, 再加-est early happy earliest happiest
以重读闭音节结尾且末尾只有一个辅音字母的词,先双写这个辅音字母,然后再加-est hot big hottest biggest

形容词、副词的最高级使用时的注意事项
1. 在句子中, 形容词最高级前通常加定冠词the, 但前面如果
有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格等限定词时, 不要再加the。
e.g. Wang Lin’s home is the closest to school.
Tom is my best friend.
2. 副词最高级的前面, 可以加定冠词the, 也可以不加。
e.g. Mike runs (the) most slowly of the three boys.
