过去进行时常和when, while 引导的时间状语从句连用, 构成复合句。
when 和 while 与过去进行时连用
1.含义上:
1) when既指时间点, 也可指一段时间。因此when在状语
从句中的动词可以终止性动词，也可以是延续性动词
while只指一段时间。while从句中必须是延续性动词。
e.g. They arrived while we were having dinner.
When they arrived, we were having dinner.
2) when说明从句和主句的动作可以是同时，也可以是
先后发生; while 常强调主从句两个动作同时发生。
e.g. We were talking when the teacher came in,.
They were singing while we were dancing.
2.时态上:
1) when 引导的时间状语从句与主句的时态:
