Language points
1. But sometimes these can get in the way of their schoolwork, and parents might worry about their success at school.
get in the way是固定短语,意为“挡…… 同义词组为“be in the/one's way.”,其反义词组为“get out off the/one's way”,意为“让开”。
Playing computer games can get in the way of his study.
Get out of my way! I'm in a hurry.
all the way 一直;一路上
on one's way (to) 在某人去某地的路上
lose one's way 迷路
by the way 顺便说一下;附带问一下
go one's way 与某人同路
in a way/ in some ways
go out of one's way to do sth.
2. We have nothing against running!
have sth. against sb./sth.
该句也可以表示为we don't have anything against running!
We are for peace and against war.
I have nothing/don't have anything against babies.
I hope you will support me in my efforts to discover the truth.
3. I know my parents care about me.
常用结构:take care (not) to do sth.
③take care of意为“照顾,照料”,相当于look after。
The young should care about the old.
The mother cared for the sick child day and night.
We'll take care of you when you are old.
4. I think I should be allowed to make this choice myself.
常用结构:make a choice 做出选择
have no choice but to do sth.
What influenced you when you made your choice
He has no choice but to go with them.
5. Only then will I have a chance to achieve my dream.
e.g. Only yesterday did he find out that his watch was lost.
Only in this way can you learn English well.
I will have a chance to achieve my dream only then.
