Journalist: Hi, Jane. Could I ask you a few questions
Jane: Certainly.
Journalist: We all know that you're working for an organization that protects
the environment. Can you tell us what you are doing there
Jane: Well, my main job is to help spread the message about protecting
the environment. For example, the three R's—reduce, reuse and
recycle—are important.
Journalist: So what can we do at home to protect the environment
Jane: We should reduce the waste we produce. For example, we should
use both sides of paper and reuse plastic bags.
Journalist: What can students do at school
Jane: Recycling can protect the environment, and it can save money,
too. So we encourage students to collect waste paper and soft
drink cans. Then we sort them so that they can be recycled.
Journalist: Wonderful ideas! Thank you!
Jane: It's a pleasure.

Discuss the words underlined
连词“or” ,“and” “but” “while” 连接的并列句
(1) 表示并列关系,用 “and”

(2) 表转折,用 “but”

(3) 表对比, 用 “while”, 意为“然而”

1. We all know that you’re working for an organization that protects the environment.

that you’re working for an organization中that 引导的是宾语从句。作动词know的宾语。that protects the environment中that引导定语从句。修饰前面的organization。
work for…为……工作, 为……坚持不懈地努力
Eg.We should work for peace.
2. My main job is to help spread the message about protecting the

※ My job(task/aim/hope/dream/…) is to do sth.此句型为不定式作表语,常表示主语的工作、任务、目标、愿望、梦想等未来的行为。
Eg:Her main job is to teach them English.
※ help为动词,意为帮助.可跟不带to的不定式或带to的不定式
句式: help sb.(to) do sth.帮助某人做某事
Eg. Could you help me (to) open the door
