核心素养与思政渗透 本课时以“旅游景点”为话题,在了解新加坡文化的主题语境下引导学生继续学习现在完成时,学会如何与人谈论过去的经历并就某地进行推荐,发表自己的观点和看法。同时,借推荐之机,增长知识,开阔视野,树立旅游前要做好攻略的意识,并学习举一反三,落脚于向外国友人推荐自己的家乡或曾去过的地方,使学生学会讲中国故事,热爱祖国壮丽河山,提高人文素养,弘扬文化自信。
课标分析 新课标要求八年级学生能在教师的引导和协助下,围绕相应的主题,理解日常生活中的简单语言材料,具备一定的获取和归纳特定信息或关键信息的能力,抓住要点;能提取、整理、概括稍长语篇的关键信息、主要内容、思想和观点,判断各种信息的异同和关联;能尊重并包容不同文化,理解与感悟优秀文化的内涵,有正确的价值观、健康的审美情趣和良好的品格;能积极尝试运用不同的英语学习策略提高学习效率,能进行自主学习、合作学习和探究学习。

教材内容分析 本课是一节阅读课,主要从语言、食物、景点、天气四方面介绍新加坡。通过读前活动做铺垫,读中活动考查学生对也阅读内容的理解,完成对话引导学生关注语言形式在语境中的运用。读后记笔记有助于学生记忆。在策略上,通过阅读技能的训练,要求学生在深刻理解文章的基础上进行推理和综合,联系自身真实情况或我国的相关信息,拓展文章内容,鼓励学生使用所学语言表达自己的观点并就该话题展开深入讨论。在情感态度上,通过引导学生对作者观点的归纳总结,培养学生多元思维,是学生更好地了解新加坡文化。
重点 本课文中所涉及到的与新加坡文化相关的新词汇和表达; 用现在完成时来谈论过去的经历。
难点 在阅读的过程中通过做笔记的方法, 借助关键信息对文本大意进行归纳或概述。
学情分析 大部分学生能够理解生词之外的与本专题相关的词汇,熟悉fun places话题,学生通过预习解决部分生词的读音和基本含义,但可能对阅读技巧掌握不足。

Step 1. Review & lead-in. Turn over the pictures of Singapore and translate the phrases into English, such as “progress in such a rapid way”, “an unusual museum”, etc. Watch a video of Li Xianlong, the president of Singapore. Step 2. Pre-reading. Get to know something about the country, like the flag, the location, etc. Ss: Language, food, weather, transportation, hotel, places of interest, ... Step 3. While-reading. 1. Skimming. Read the passage quickly and find out the places of each aspects of Singapore. Scanning. Detailed reading. Read Para. 1 and answer the questions. Sa: In Southeast Asia. Sb: Putonghua and English. Sc: Because more than three quarters of the population are Chinese. ... Read Para. 2, look for different kinds of foods in Singapore, and make a judgement. Read Para. 3 and answer the questions. Sa: At night. Because a lot of animals only wake up at night. Read Para. 4 and answer the questions. Sb: Spring, summer, autumn and winter. Talk about their reasons. Finish activity 2c and 2d. Step 4. Post-reading. Finish the mind-map and retell the passage according to it. Let Ss work in groups and make a travel strategy of their city for friends in Singapore. Step 5. Summary. Provide some pictures about Singapore and phrases about museums in last lesson to help Ss review what they’ve learned and enjoy the scenery. T: Today we’ll learn about a relaxing and peaceful place. For a long time,I had been waiting for the summer holidays to start,because I would visit my 11 family in India.My cousins were 12 for me there.Finally I reached India on June 9th.
