“You have saved my horse,” Queen(王后) Olivia told the young boy standing before her.“Now you will get a gift for what you did.”Peter nervously ran his fingers through his brown hair. That day when he was working in the field, the shocked horse ran past him. Without thinking, he rushed out and controlled it. He didn't know it was the queen's horse and never expected to get a gift. But he just felt happy for getting one.
Two of the queen's men came up. One carried a mirror. Red jewels(珠宝) shone on top of the mirror's silver frame(银框架). The other carried a wooden cage(木笼子) with a chicken inside it.
“Only one gift can be yours,” the queen said. “Choose well. ”“That's easy,” Peter said.“I'll take the chicken.”Some of the queen's men laughed. It was clear that they thought he had made a stupid choice.
“And why did you choose the chicken?”The queen asked. “Well, I don't know much about jewels,” Peter answered. “But I do know about chickens. The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long time.”
Queen Olivia smiled. “Then you did make a wise choice,” she said. “That mirror may look beautiful. But the jewels you see are only colored glass, and the frame is painted silver. The chicken is much more valuable(贵重的).”Peter took the chicken and bowed. “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better-paid jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don't.
It seems that the purpose of education is to make people get jobs. But this isn't accepted by all people. Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life getting education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living, people don't need to spend so much time at school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even the language and maths need not be taught in detail(详细地) either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.
Education is well-rounded(全面的) and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of humans. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch good plays and take an interest in the world.
I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.
( )63.The earliest education was probably to ________.

D.The time of getting education.
( )65.Which is true according to the passage
A.Education can improve a man.
B.Making a living is the main reason of education.
C.People with little education can find jobs easily.
D.People can get education in a short time.

A B C D
( )67.Where can you probably read this passage
A.In a storybook.
B.In an amusement magazine.
C.In a history textbook.
D.In a newspaper.

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep hole. When the other frogs saw how deep the hole was, they told the two frogs that they were hopeless to be alive. But the two frogs didn't believe it.73. The other frogs kept telling them to stop and wait for their death. Finally, one of the two frogs gave up and fell down.Soon he died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could.Once again, the crowd of frogs shouted to him and told him to stop and just wait to die. 74.
When he got out,the other frogs said,“Didn't you hear us?”The frog explained to them that he was deaf.75.
The story teaches us two lessons.76. An encouraging word to someone who is down can cheer him up and help him make it through difficulties.Secondly,a negative(消极的) word to someone who is down can make him give up and die.77.
Speak life to those who cross your path.It is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way.It is great of a person to take the time to encourage another.

Once upon a time, there was a monk living on the mountain. And it's far for him to get water to cook food, wash clothes and have a bath.In the early morning, the little monk got up early because he wanted to get the freshest water.Every day,he was pleased and led a happy life. Then another monk came,so the little monk carried the water on his shoulder with the second one.Days passed quickly. The third monk climbed up the mountain and found the temple was so peaceful. He determined to live there. But the three monks did not want to carry water for others and thought the other two monks would do it for him.As a result, there was no water for them to drink.
