In a modern world where time is money, how have our reading habits been influenced Are we reading more quickly or do we prefer to read short passages The answer perhaps lies in the kind of text you're reading.
When we're reading online, we read quickly to search what we want. Does this mean that as readers we now have far less patience than we used to do Not necessarily. Much of this activity is actually skimming or scanning to check whether something is useful or interesting and whether we want to read it. We'll slow down and take a bit longer to properly read the text if the headline catches our eyes.
For those writing in an online environment, this means finding more useful ways of catching the readers' eyes. For example, putting the key information at the very beginning makes it more likely that the time-poor website visitors will find what they want.
But what about when we're reading literature(文学作品) Are the rules still the same The average reader works their way through a piece of an article at no more than 250—300 words per minute, which is generally a page of text. If you try to read through a novel more quickly, then you start to lose a lot of what makes literature such a pleasure. When we read for pleasure, we are much less focused on picking out useful information or key words. Instead, the language itself is as important as the information mentioned. The longer you spend on reading a passage, the more vivid(生动) a picture you create in your mind.
Sometimes an escape(逃离) from the fast-moving Internet Age is just what we need, so maybe it's time to slow down and lose yourself in a good book.
( )63.Why do people read quickly online according to the text
A.Because people are becoming less patient than they used to be.
B.Because people think the passages on the Internet are boring.
C.Because they need to save time for printing what they want.
D.Because people want to decide whether they want to read it.
( ) 64.How does the writer organize Paragraph 3
A.By giving an example. B.By asking questions.
C.By listing numbers. D.By showing facts.
( )65.What would the writer most probably like to do
A.Draw some pictures on the book.
B.Enjoy himself while reading slowly.
C.Write an article of 250—300 words.
D.Read through a novel very quickly.
( )66.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text
A. B. C. D.
( )67.What's the main idea of the passage
A.To tell us the importance of reading.
B.To ask us to slow down to read books.
C.To tell us how to read a book.
D.To introduce some useful ways to read books.

The more books you read, the better your life will be. If you don't believe me,please consider these five reasons to read more books.
This shouldn't come as a shock, but studies suggest reading makes you smart. Unlike watching television, which requires no thought process, reading is an active learning experience that will keep your mind sharp.
You will increase(增加) your chances of success. The more books you read, the more knowledge you will have, the more ways and resources your brain will store. 74.
Reading more books will enable you to say the sentence “Did you know…?”more often, making it easier to start conversations with strangers.
You will enlarge your vocabulary. The more words you're able to use, the better you will become at expressing your thoughts and feelings. I couldn't imagine how I would write articles like this if I didn't actively aim to enlarge my vocabulary. 76.
Your mobile phone or TV can make it difficult for you to get a good night's sleep, if you chat on your mobile phone or watch TV late at night. You would be wise to cut off all electronics at least an hour before bed, and replace that with a good book, which is a much better choice.
The books can change your life. I firmly believe that if it wasn't for books, I wouldn't have achieved a lot in my life; nor would I have the knowledge, imagination or creativity. I hope these reasons to read more books encourage you to unlock your power of reading.
A.You will get surprising new ideas.B.You will enjoy a good night's sleep.C.You will make your brain power better.D.You will broaden your eyes for the world.E.You will have things to talk about at parties.F.So reading more books may make you succeed.G.For me, using the same few words would get boring.

Natalie Mcknight is a literature professor who studies Dickens and his works. She explains why the novelist has remained so popular. One important reason, she says,is that Dickens wrote from his heart. In his works,he paid special attention to the “little man” at the bottom of society in the UK.A Christmas Carol, for example, was written to make every reader think about how they could make a difference to their society. Our Mutual Friend uses waste as a symbol of England society.
People always enjoy works that make them laugh, cry and think. Many other 19th century novelists wrote entertaining works. However, few of them worked as hard as Dickens to touch the readers deeply.

( D )63.Why do people read quickly online according to the text
A.Because people are becoming less patient than they used to be.
B.Because people think the passages on the Internet are boring.
C.Because they need to save time for printing what they want.
D.Because people want to decide whether they want to read it.
( A ) 64.How does the writer organize Paragraph 3
A.By giving an example. B.By asking questions.
C.By listing numbers. D.By showing facts.
( B )65.What would the writer most probably like to do
A.Draw some pictures on the book.
B.Enjoy himself while reading slowly.
C.Write an article of 250—300 words.
D.Read through a novel very quickly.
( C )66.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text
A. B. C. D.
( B )67.What's the main idea of the passage
A.To tell us the importance of reading.
B.To ask us to slow down to read books.
C.To tell us how to read a book.
D.To introduce some useful ways to read books.

The more books you read, the better your life will be. If you don't believe me,please consider these five reasons to read more books.
C This shouldn't come as a shock, but studies suggest reading makes you smart. Unlike watching television, which requires no thought process, reading is an active learning experience that will keep your mind sharp.
You will increase(增加) your chances of success. The more books you read, the more knowledge you will have, the more ways and resources your brain will store. 74. F
E Reading more books will enable you to say the sentence “Did you know…?”more often, making it easier to start conversations with strangers.
You will enlarge your vocabulary. The more words you're able to use, the better you will become at expressing your thoughts and feelings. I couldn't imagine how I would write articles like this if I didn't actively aim to enlarge my vocabulary. 76. G
B Your mobile phone or TV can make it difficult for you to get a good night's sleep, if you chat on your mobile phone or watch TV late at night.
