一、教学目标

二、教学重难点
教学重点:
重点词汇的记忆和运用。

四、教学过程
Step 1: Warming-up (3 minutes)
Play a short video about different cities around the world, showing their famous buildings and landscapes. Ask them some questions: What can you see in the video Do you like big cities or small towns
Ask students to share their impressions of the cities they saw in the video.
Step 2: Vocabulary Presentation (5 minutes)
Display pictures related to the new words on the PPT. Present the words “hill, population, wide, million” one by one and explain their meanings and pronunciations.
Ask students to repeat the words after the teacher and make some simple sentences using the new words.
Step 3: Listening (10 minutes)
Before playing the recording, show some questions on the PPT:
How many cities are mentioned in the dialogue
Which city is bigger, Shenzhen or Hong Kong
What's the population of Shenzhen
Is Shenzhen newer than Hong Kong
How does the speaker like Shenzhen
Play the recording of the dialogue for the first time. Students listen carefully and try to answer the questions.
Play the recording again. This time, pause at key points to explain some difficult words and sentences.
Step 4: Reading (7 minutes)
Students read the dialogue silently.
Work in pairs to find out the sentences with comparative degrees and underline them.
Invite some pairs to share the sentences they found and explain the comparisons.
Step 5: Language Points (6 minutes)
Focus on the comparative degrees in the dialogue. Explain the rules of forming comparative degrees for adjectives and adverbs.
Illustrate the usage of comparative degrees with more examples and have students practice making comparisons.
Step 6: Practice (5 minutes)
Show some pictures of different objects or places. Students work in groups to make comparisons using the comparative degrees.
Each group selects a representative to present their comparisons to the class.
Step 7: Summary (3 minutes)
回顾本节课所学的新单词。
总结比较级的构成规则,强调一般规则变化和不规则变化。
回顾重点句型 “It's taller than...” ,让学生用这个句型造句,加深印象。
Step 8: Homework (1 minutes)
