Students read the passage silently for the first time and try to answer the question: What city is the passage about
Read the passage again and complete a table with the following information: Location, Population, Features.
Check the answers and discuss any difficulties in understanding the text.
Step 4: Language Points (10 minutes)
Focus on the key language points in the passage.
(1)come from=be from 是固定短语,意为“来自”。
(2)[辨析] in,on和to表示方位的区别
(3)The population of+某地+be+数词。/ 某地+ has a population of +数词。
(4)be famous for…=be known for…意为“因……而出名”,后接闻名/著名的原因。
be famous to… 意为“为某人所熟知”,后接某人。
be famous as…意为“作为……而出名”,后接表示身份、职位或称号等的名词。
(5)【辨析]such as和 for example的区别
(6)bring sth. with sb.意为“将某物带在身上;随身带某物”。
Illustrate with more examples and have students practice making similar sentences.
Step 5: Group Work (6 minutes)
Divide students into groups of four. Each group is assigned a city to research.
Students work together to collect information about the city's location, population, and features using the internet or reference books.
Step 5: Summary (2 minutes)
回顾本节课所学的新单词和描述地点的关键句型。

Step 6: Homework (1 minutes)
