这节课的学习者是初中九年级学生,他们有一定的阅读经验和阅读技巧,而且思维活跃,乐于体验新的东西。极端的气候是全球关注的热点话题,它能够激发他们阅读的兴趣。虽然农村学生英语底子相对薄弱,一些生单词会成为它们阅读的障碍,但单本册书中没有太多的生词,大多都能通过上下文猜测单词意思,并不影响学生对整本书的理解。
