教学设计(第1课时)
一、教学目标
1. 掌握重点词汇和短语。

Step 1 Warming up
1. Show some pictures of different sports, ask students: "What sports do you like " Encourage them to answer with "I like..."
2. Play a short video of an exciting sports game to arouse students' interest. Then ask: "Which sport do you think is the most exciting "
Step 2 Vocabulary learning
1. Present the new words and phrases on the PPT. Use pictures, examples and gestures to help students understand the meanings and usages.
2. Ask students to read the words and phrases after the teacher. Then do some spelling and pronunciation practices. Let them read together and individually to make sure they can pronounce correctly.
Step 3 Listening practice
1. Play the recording of the text for the first time. Ask students to listen carefully and try to understand the main idea.
2. Play the recording again. This time, ask students to do the listening exercises in the textbook, such as filling in the blanks or choosing the correct answers.
Step 4 Dialogue comprehension
1. Ask students to read the dialogue by themselves and answer the following questions:
(1)What sports do they talk about
(2)What does Tony think of football
(3)Does Betty like tennis
2. Let them discuss the answers in groups. Then invite some groups to share their answers. The teacher gives comments and explanations.
Step 5 Grammar explanation
1. Guide students to find the comparative sentences in the dialogue.
2. Explain the formation and usage of comparatives. Use more examples to make it clear that comparatives are used to compare two things.
For instance, "This book is better than that one." "She is taller than me."
Step 6 Practice and consolidation
1. Show some sentences on the screen and ask students to complete them with the comparative forms of the given words.
(1)This book is ____ (good) than that one. (2)Swimming is ____ (difficult) than running.
2. Ask students to describe the features of different sports activities using comparative sentences.
Step 7 Summary
1. Review the key vocabulary, phrases and comparative sentence structures learned in this class.
2. Emphasize the rules of forming and using comparatives.
Step 8 Homework
1. Recite the key words and phrases.
2. Write a short passage about your favourite sports activity using comparative sentences. At least 50 words.

1. The teacher gives some topics:"My Favourite Sport" "The Most Popular Sport in Our School", and asks students to work in pairs to have a conversation. They should express their opinions using comparative sentences.
2. Invite several pairs of students to present their conversations in front of the class. Other students listen carefully and give evaluations.
Step 3 Role-play
1. Divide students into groups. Ask them to role-play according to the text. They should imitate the tones and expressions in the dialogue.
2. The teacher walks around the groups to offer guidance and help.
3. Choose several groups to perform in front of the whole class. Select the "Best Performance Group".
Step 4 Dialogue creation
1. Give some new situations:"Comparing Different After-school Activities" "Comparing Different Sports Venues". Ask students to work in groups to create new dialogues.
2. Each group sends a representative to present the created dialogue. Other groups give evaluations and suggestions.
