In the early twentieth century, people suffered through
many wars.When World War Ⅱ was over, an organization
called the United Nations (the UN) was formed to help
countries talk about their problems instead of fighting.That
was in 1945.
Today there are 193 member states in the UN.The headquaters of the UN is in New York City.The head of the UN is in New York City.The head of the UN,chosen by all the member states, is called the Secretary-General.The UN Security Council has fifteen members,five of which are permanent mermbers—China,France,Russia,the U.K.and the U.S.
Many times since 1945,the UN has sent armies to keep peace between two fighting countries.It helps the situation,but sometimes it is not successful.
Careful reading
It is not always easy for the members to reach an agreement.Just imagine how difficult it is to satisfy all 193 members!However,the UN is still the best way for
the world to solve its problems. Let's hope that the great idea they had in 1945 to prevent war will last forever.

Besides the Security Council，there are other important parts of the UN. For example，the United Nations Educational，Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency. 　Present your speech to a small group of classmates and listen to their speeches. Talk about your speeches in groups. Ask each other questions about your opinions and other information you learned.

后面接名词，代词 ，动名词充当宾语，一般位于句中。

拓展：instead ；作为副词，意为 “代替，替代”。
2.of which / whom常用some, any, many, few, most, all, either, neither, none或基数词连用，of表部分关系，含义为“其中…”。
以上不定代词或基数词也可以置于of which / whom之后。
e.g.

I live in a house, the windows of which face south.
It is not always easy for the members to reach an agreement.
3.satisfy/'s t sfa /v.使满意，使满足；使确信，使……消除疑虑；偿还，补偿；令人满意
eg：Some people are very hard to satisfy.
有些人很难使其满意。
satisfy 的用法：
satisfy＋n./pron.使……满意
eg：The result of the test satisfied the teachers.
测试结果使老师们很满意。
satisfy＋n./pron.＋that从句 使……相信……
eg：You must satisfy me that your story is true.
你必须使我相信你的故事是真的。
satisfy sb.of sth.使某人确信某事；使某人相信某事
eg：He tried hard to satisfy me of his sincerity.
他竭力让我相信他的诚意。
satisfied为其形容词形式，常用短语：
be satisfied with sb./sth.对某人/某事感到满意
eg：I'm not satisfied with your work. You must improve it.
