什么 是宾语从句?

语法重点 :本单元主要学习由that, whether / if引导的宾语从句。
定义:在句子中起宾语作用的从句叫做宾语从句。

三要素:1.引导词(连接词):that, if, whether
2.时态:当主句用一般过去时时态时,宾语从句要用过去的某种时态。
3.语序:宾语从句用陈述句语序,即 “主语+谓语”。如:
e.g. He asked me where my school was.

陈述句 that(一般情况下,口语或非正式文体中常省略) I think (that) Halloween is a fun festival.
一般疑问句 whether, if (意为“是否”,在口语中常用if) I wonder if/whether they’ll have the races again next year.

一、(1)由that引导的宾语从句
当宾语从句具有陈述意义时,用 that引导。that 在句中无词汇意义,在从句中不充当成分,在口语当中往往省略。
连词that不能省略的几种情况:
1. 从句的主语是that。如:
He says that that is a real king’s hat.他说那是一个真的王冠。
2. that从句中含有主从复合句。如:
I’m afraid that if you’ve lost it, you must pay for it.
3. 主、从句之间有插入语时。如:
It says here, on this card, that it was used in plays.
卡片上写着,它是古代演戏用的。
4. 若出现两个或两上以上的由that引导的宾语从句,且由
并列连词连接时,只有第一个连词that可以省略。如:
She said (that) she would come and that she would also bring her son. 她说她要来,还要带她的儿子来。
由于if和whether连接的句子在语义上是一般疑问句或选择疑问句,因此要注意把从句语序改为陈述句语序。
一、(2)由if / whether引导的宾语从句
当宾语从句具有疑问意义时,可用if或whether引导。它们在句子中的意思是“是否”,不能省略。

if或whether引导宾语从句时,作“是否”讲,一般情况下,两者常可换用。二者在下列几种情况下不能换用:
1. 宾语从句置于句首表示强调时,应用whether,不用if。
如:Whether this is true or not, I can’t say.这是否对,我不能说。
2. 宾语从句与or not直接连用时,应用whether,不能用if。
如:I don’t know whether or not he will come tomorrow.
我不知道他明天是否来。
3. 与动词不定式连用时,只能用whether。
如:She can’t decide whether to go to America.
她不能决定是否去美国。
4. 从句作介词宾语时,只能用whether。
如:I worry about whether I hurt her feeling.
我担心是否伤了她的感情。
5. 宾语从句的谓语动词是否定形式时,只能用if,不能用 whether。
如: Tom wants to know if she won’t come here tomorrow.
汤姆想知道她明天是否不来这儿。
6. if意为“假如,如果”时,可以引导条件状语从句,而 whether没有这个用法。
如: If Simon comes here tomorrow, I’ll call you.
假如西蒙明天来这儿,我将打电话告诉你。
主句现在时,从句可使用任何时态;
主句过去时态,从句一律使用过去时态。
当宾语从句是客观真理或不可改变的自然现象时,宾语从句须用一般现在时,不受主句时态的限制。

感叹句是表示赞美、惊叹、喜悦等感情的句子。 感叹句通常由what和how引导。 what修饰名词, how修饰形容词或副词。
感叹句的句子结构:

1)一般情况下,以what和how开头的感叹句可以相互转换,转换后意义不变。
What a tall building it is! = How tall the building is!
How interesting the stories are!= What interesting stories they are!
2)在how引导的感叹句中,句中的主语和谓语可以省略:
How fast! 多快呀!
How nice of you to come! 你来了真好!

3)要修饰名词的形容词不能是表数量的many, much, little, few,遇此情况要用how,即使它们后面跟有名词:
How many books he has! 他的书真多!
How much money he gave her! 他给了她好多钱呀!
How little money I have! 我的钱多么少呀!
How few friends he has! 他的朋友真少!
比较:What a little box it is! 多小巧的盒子呀!(该little不表示数量)
4)在感叹句中,What a / an 常用来修饰单数可数名词,若其前面的形容词为元音开头,则用 an。what 是用来修饰复数可数名词和不可数名词。
但有些不可数名词,如 rain, surprise, breakfast, lunch 等,当前面有形容词修饰,使抽象名词具体化时,则要用 what a / an,如:
What a heavy rain it is! 多大的一场雨啊!
What a great surprise it is! 这多么令人惊奇啊!
What a rich breakfast it is! 多么丰盛的一顿早餐啊!
