阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
In my late teens and early 20s, I did everything to keep up with the fast-paced world I was living in. The few times that I did try and look inward, I became totally confused and scared. I didn't know who I was because I was so busy trying to be like everyone else and live a “normal” life. Finally, after months of living in a state of anxiety (焦虑) and stress, I knew I couldn't go on like this. I was so afraid there was something seriously wrong with me. The psychologist I went to see was the first person who told me about the trait of high sensitivity (敏感), and that I was probably an HSP.
It was suggested that I start taking time for myself by going for walks in nature. I remember at the time it felt so funny and strange to me. But I managed to do it, and my worry got a little better, so I went on with my life.
At age 24, one summer afternoon, I was lying on the sofa trying to plan the day in my own head, becoming more and more worried as I added tasks to the list. I felt lost in the world...Why couldn't I manage the same types of things while others could What was wrong with me
That day, the term “HSP” came back into my head after not really thinking about it for a long time. I felt something driving me to learn more about it. I drove to the Chapters Bookstore. I bought The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron. That evening I began to read the book that was written about girls like me. For the next two weeks I came home from work every day, went into my room and read it. I enjoyed taking this time for myself alone, just to read. It meant something to me.
Since then, living life as an HSP has become an incredible journey.I have understood much more about past relationships, my relationships with my parents and friends, my childhood experiences, and my choices in life—everything makes more sense. I want all HSPs to love themselves. Recently, I have come to a place where I feel it necessary to share my knowledge about the HSP with the world. I truly believe HSPs bring wonderful gifts to humans.

Two letters to the editor of a school newspaper
Dear editor,
Students should be allowed to study without worrying about grades. Fortunately, most educators begin to know the fact that students have different interests and abilities. However, the standard resulting from grades is still there. Grades often discourage creativity. Competing for better grades prevents many students taking up music, dramatics (戏剧表演) and sports. Quite a few people think that grades are the only standard of success for students. I do not want, as some extremists do, grades to be cancelled immediately. However, I do believe that less importance should be placed on grades. I hope that someday grades will become optional at Village High School.
Deborah Smith, President,
Drama Club
Dear editor,
Let's face the facts about grades. Grades have three basic functions (功能). First, grades encourage students to work at their highest level of ability. Second, they act as a prize for hardworking students and as a punishment to students who do not work hard. Finally, grades are used as a standard by which to measure student achievement. Good grades help students to get jobs and to get into universities. I've spoken with a number of students who have jobs, and most of them say that they were hired primarily on the basis of their grades. My grades helped me land a part-time job and will help me get into university next year. I think grades are extremely important at Village High School.
Simon Harper, Member,
Science Club
15.What does Deborah Smith think is important for students
A.Getting good jobs.
B.Having fun activities.
C.Giving all attention to grades.
D.Being punished for bad grades.
16.The underlined word “optional” is probably used to describe something that .
A.is useful B.is awkward
C.can be left to personal choice D.can be registered for
17.What can we know about Simon Harper

B.He is worried about students' creativity.
C.He wants businesses to hire more students.
D.He believes in the importance of good grades.
18.What will Simon Harper probably do next year
A.Go to university.
B.Join Science Club.

三、语法填空(共10小题;每小题3分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Have you ever had a friend who plans to hang out but cancels when a 19 (good) offer comes along Or a buddy who drops everything to lend you 20 hand but later talks about you behind your back These problematic friends 21 (know) as “frenemies (亦敌亦友)”.
The term can be used to describe those relationships 22 can raise you up in one case, but break you down in another. In these troublesome relationships, encouragement and 23 (warm) go hand in hand with criticism (批评), envy and rejection. It's a friend who 24 (drive) you crazy. You don't want to lose them, but they are really a pain.
Researchers have found that such ties can have a negative influence 25 the mental and physical well-being of a person. However, if you want to keep your frenemies—and most people do—there are things you can do 26 (reduce) these negative influences.
No friendship is perfect. 27 your friend is worth it depends on what he or she means to you. But either way, you can work on keeping your end of the friendship bargain. Start with 28 (control) your own behavior and being the kind of friend you'd want others to be for you.
