Only six days ago I moved into my new home at Western University in London, Ontario. When moving to a new place, people have a variety of feelings. However, I surprisingly didn't feel nervous. I was so excited to make new friends and start learning about topics that I am interested in.
What was really interesting about my move-in experience is that I was forced to talk to new people. None of my close friends from home went to Western, so it was up to me to make new friends. I felt alone, but I knew something positive was coming. At first it was very worrying. I felt so alone in a sea of people that I didn't know. After being there for five minutes, I quickly realized that everyone was in the same position as me. Even if you had come to Western with a group of friends or you had already lived in London, we still were all moving into a new residence (住所) together. It was comforting when senior students reminded us that whatever feelings we were having, the people around us were feeling the same way. We were not alone.
My first dinner with my floor-mates less than a week ago was possibly one of the most awkward experiences I have ever had. Sitting down and eating with a group of strangers can be really intimidating but now I can say that everyone on my floor has become very close. What I have learned is that it takes time to adjust to (适应) a new environment. The first night was hard but within 24 hours, I had made a lot of new friends. It was so much fun.
Starting at a new school can be hard but it is up to you to take the chances that are put in front of you. Get out there, make new friends and stay positive!

Making your school a better place will make everyone around you happier and will get you more excited to go every day. Besides, a better place will also make you more productive. The following are some of the ways to make your school a better place.
Stand up to bullies (欺凌). Do not stay silent when you see another student getting hurt by a bully. 15 This will create a better atmosphere at school and can prevent bullies from picking on other students in the future.
Try to deal with arguments between other kids. When you see other students in an argument, you can help resolve the problem. 16 After all, many arguments in school are just misunderstandings between two people.
17 If you know that other students are having difficulty with a subject that you're good at, you can help them by teaching them in that subject. Helping other students with their academics and improving their grades will help create a positive atmosphere in school.
Make friends with students that are lonely. If you notice a student who doesn't have many friends, sits alone at lunch, or is bullied regularly, make it a point to become his/her friend. 18 So why not encourage other people to become friends with him/her
Communicate serious problems with teachers. For example, you know someone who is really having a hard time in school or has to face serious problems at home, and you can't help the student resolve the issue yourself. 19
A.Teach other students if you can.
B.Help them see the positive side of things.
C.Speak up confidently and tell him/her to stop.
D.Encourage your classmates to talk to each other.
