I wish there would ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )be a way to describe China in simple terms but that’s impossible. For the most part Chinese people are friendly, easy-going and optimistic. They are curious and unusually patient and they are also the hardest-working people I have ever met.
In China, family is ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) everything. In my English classes when the students were asked what they would do if they only had a few hours to live, most students told me how they would spend their last few hours with their families and parents. Many times the subjects in the classes center on families and friends. I teach many students a year, talking to them freely.
The cost of living h ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ere is very low compared with that of the US. The city of Xiang Fan I live in isn’t large and I live better. Non-imported(非进口的) foods are very cheap, so are clothing and articles of everyday use. The cost of public transportation is very low, too. Chinese value education. However, it is reported that many children can’t afford the expenses of schooling and are forced to leave school in some poor areas in China. But they organized Project Hope many years ago. It creates conditions for the poor children to go back to school. In my opinion, Project Hope is of great importance to the development of the rural education.
When we read news of C ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )hina in the west, rarely, if ever, will we see anything mentioned of the positive changes China has gone through. While it is true that economic miracles have not reached many areas of China, but we also have the same problems.
When I am asked wh ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ich country I consider better, China or the US, my answer has always been the same, “We are not worse or better than each other, we are only different.”
25. What does the author think of Chinese people
A. He thinks mos ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )t Chinese people hardly work. B. He praises most Chinese people a lot.
C. He thinks most ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) Chinese people are proud. D. He dislikes most Chinese people.
26. What are not cheap in China in the author’s opinion
A. Clothes and ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) shoes made in China. B. Public transportation tickets.
C. Imported foods . D. Local foods.
27. We can infer from the passage that the author thinks __________.
A. the progress of China is seldom reported in the US
B. China’s economic miracles have appeared everywhere
C. the westerners have got to know China well
D. the education in rural areas is never cared about in China

Have you ever run ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )into a careless cell phone user on the street Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. Your health i ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )s the first to bear the effect and result of it. “Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck,” Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying. “the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching.” Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.
But that’s not all. B ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )eing a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Qilu Evening News reported.
It can also cost you y ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )our life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.

These days a green ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )building means more than just the color of the paint. Green buildings can also refer to environmentally friendly houses, factories, and offices.
Green building me ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ans “reducing the effect of the building on the land”, Taryn Holowka of the U.S. Green Building Council(评议会) in Washington, D.C., said. According to Holowka, building accounts for 65 percent of total U.S. electricity use.
But green buildi ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ngs can reduce energy and water use. Also, the buildings are often located near public transportation such as buses and subways, so that people can drive their cars less. Marty Dettling is p ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )roject manager for a building that puts these ideas into action. The Solaire has been called the country’s first green high-rise building. According to Dettling, “We’ve reduced our energy use by one-third and our water by 50 percent.”
The Solaire cuts ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )energy in part by using solar power. “On the face of the building we have solar panels(光板) which change the sun’s energy into electricity,”Dettling explained.
The Solaire also h ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )as lights that automatically turn off when people leave the room. In addition, the building has lots of windows, allowing people to use the sun for light during the day. The Solaire cuts water by reusing it.
Not everyone is eag ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )er to move into a green building, however. Some people think that things like solar panels cost more money than more traditional energy sources. Anyhow, Holowka said, “It’s going to be big.”

A. a buildin ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )g that uses no electricity B. a building occupying less land
C. a building th ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )at saves energy and water D. a green-colored building

C. where people of high income live
D. where traveling around by car is most convenient
34. When Hol ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )owka says inthe last paragraph, “It’s going to be big”, she means that green buildings
__________.
A. will be more comfortable B. will become popular in future
C. will be more e ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )nvironmentally friendly D. will take the place of traditional buildings

写作
Dear Li Ming,
I’m sorry to hear ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) that you are under great pressure and don’t know what to do. As your best friend, I’d like to offer you some advice.
First of all, you ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )should have enough sleep at night because staying up too late is bad for your health. Second, it doesn’t make sense to compare yourself with others because everyone is different from others physically and mentally. More importantly, it is beneficial to develop a positive attitude towards life. Although we attach importance to the College Entrance Examination, it is equally significant to improve our overall qualities. Besides, you should take regular exercise in order to keep fit. Only by relieving stress and pressure properly can you make full use of your time and achieve your goal. Just believe in yourself that you can make it. I do hope my advice will be of a little help to you.
Yours,
Wang Hong

W: I did. I ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )made some stupid mistakes. I should be more careful next time.
M: Maybe you took too many courses this year.
W: No, I took as many as last year.
M: Eight courses, th ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )at’s hard to believe. I’m taking four this year. I think four, or at most five, is OK.

M: I see. Well, ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )we received thirty-eight bags yesterday. Hm… I’ve got twenty-four bags here. Can you give me some more information
W: It’s quite la ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )rge. I wear it over my shoulder. It’s a black shoulder bag. It’s got a zip on the front and there’s a pocket on the side for a mobile phone.
M: Is there anything in it

M: Come in, ple ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ase. Oh, Mary, come over and sit here. You annual report is well done. I heard that you did it within just two days.
W: Yeah. But I received a lot of help from my colleagues.
M: I know you’r ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )e a capable person. The others couldn’t have helped you much. They had their own work to do.
W: Thank you for ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )saying that. But I don’t always do a good job. I’ve been thinking that you must still be upset with me for the wrong figures I gave you the day before yesterday.
M: Take it easy. Eve ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ryone makes mistakes. However, be more careful next time. You have a bright future ahead of you.
W: Thank you so ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )much for your encouragement, Mr. Chandler. I’ll do my best.

W: Hello, ev ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )erybody! Thanks for listening to J-WAVE, Tokyo’s favorite radio station. We’ll be playing some music by Britney Spears in a moment, but first let’s check the weather out there. It’s been a beautiful day today, hasn’t it Well, this evening’s weather is changing fast, so if you’re on your way home from the office, you’ll have to be careful driving because there are some low clouds moving in. You won’t see the lights of Tokyo Tower tonight! Seriously, it may be difficult to see other cars on the highway, so put your lights on and drive slowly for safety tonight, OK No umbrellas necessary tomorrow. We’ll have beautiful weather all week, mild temperatures and sunshine starting tomorrow and lasting through the weekend. Have a picnic in the park, take a hike and get some fresh air. That’s what I plan to do.
