Kate Humble is a writer. Her new book Friend for Life is about the relationship between a man and a dog. Humble shares with us the books that changed her life.
Winnie the Pooh By A.A.Milne My father used to read this book to me when I was very young. He used different voices for all the animals. I loved the characters in the book: sad Eeyore, loyal (忠诚的) Pooh, lively Tigger. A.A.Milne was really good at describing the way they got along together, opening my eyes to how society really works.
Last Chance to See This book tells of the writers' experiences as they travel around to find animals in danger. Their travels are very exciting and they share a wonderful humor. The book makes me realize that we can't just sit back and allow animals to disappear. I read the book in my teens. At that time I hardly traveled. But the idea that we must help protect our planet was a really inspiring (激励人心的) one to me.
Picture Palace By Paul Theroux I've always loved Theroux's travel writing. I found this book in a second-hand bookshop. I read the first paragraph and thought,“ How does he do that ” The words aren't long or difficult, but from that first paragraph, his writing grabs (吸引) one. I had an artist teacher who told me, “You're only an artist when you've found your own style (风格), not when you're copying someone else.” And Theroux is surely an artist.

Strange as it probably sounds, I was scared of shadows (影子). Not the shadows themselves, but what they formed. Because I was near-sighted (近视), the shadows I saw formed into the scariest things I saw in my mind. —Jean, no longer afraid of shadows
I was afraid of the old woman who lived alone right in front of us. The front part of her small house was covered with huge trees. There lived a woman whose husband had a bad habit. The man would drink a lot every day. This caused him to lose his normal senses for most of the time.
The woman tried many times to help him get out of this habit, but all her efforts were useless!
Every night, someone else would have to bring him back home. One such night when he was brought home, the woman had him carried to a grave in the neighborhood. She thought she could teach him a good lesson by frightening him and then he would stop his bad habit.
Then she dressed herself in a dark-colored dress. She wore a mask (面具) upon her face. She waited for him to wake up.
When the woman saw her husband returning to his senses, she moved towards him with the scary mask. Then, she gave him some bread to eat and spoke loudly, “Get up and eat. It is my job to bring food for the dead.”

Five teenagers from Sarasota, US, make music from garbage. The Garbage-Men band's instruments are made from recycled things. Their guitars are boxes. A horn (号) is made from pipes (管道). Their keyboard is made from old bottles.

When I was a child, my parents and I used to go to my grandparents' house in the mountains. We lived in a city then, and we visited them every year. We didn't have a car at that time, so we traveled by bus. It always took ages! We didn't go in winter because there was too much snow. Being polite to people can make you popular. It is never too late to begin. Here are a few tips.
First, be kind to people. Give help to those who need it. Remember that by helping them, you are also making yourself happy.
Second, help strangers. Helping someone who has difficulty climbing stairs is a good way to start. Remember that some day you may need help and a stranger may come to help you.
Third, write or say something. You can write thank-you notes to people who helped you, make cards for sick friends and say goodbye to people who are leaving.
Last, after you attend a party, help the host clean up. It may take you only a few minutes. But your help is quite important to a person who is tired.

One Possible Version:
Nowadays, online learning becomes more and more popular among young students. However, there are some problems.
First, teachers and students cannot communicate face to face so that the teaching effect may not be good. Second, online learning needs a lot of self-control. If you can't control yourself, you can ask your parents to help you. Third, some big-scene teaching cannot be realized, such as the scenario-based and experiential learning in summer camp.
Although there are problems in studying online, you are able to find solutions if you want to.
