Module 2 时间状语从句(教学设计)

四、教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Show some pictures depicting the sequence of events and ask students to describe them with simple sentences.
2. Guide students to think about how to express the time relationship between events more accurately, thus introducing the concept of adverbial clauses of time.
Step 2 Knowledge Explanation
Introduce common conjunctions of adverbial clauses of time: when, while, as, before, after, until, since, etc.
when: It means "at the time that; whenever". The action in the subordinate clause can occur simultaneously with or before the action in the main clause.
For example: "When I was a child, I often played in the park."
while: It indicates "during the time that; as long as". The action in the subordinate clause is usually continuous and often occurs simultaneously with the action in the main clause.
For instance: "While I was doing my homework, my sister was watching TV."
as: It means "while; when; as soon as". It emphasizes the simultaneity of the actions.
Such as: "As I was leaving the house, the phone rang."
before: It means "earlier than the time when".
Example: "Please come before eight o'clock."
after: It means "later than the time when".
Like: "I'll call you after I finish my work."
until: It means "up to the time when".
For example: "I waited until he came."
7. since: It means "from a particular time in the past until now". The main clause usually uses the present perfect tense.
(1)For instance: "I have lived here since 2010."
(2)Analyze the usage differences among when, while and as through comparative examples.
8. For example:
(1)When I was reading, my mother came in. (The action in the subordinate clause happened before the action in the main clause.)
(2)While I was reading, my mother was cooking. (The actions in both the main and subordinate clauses occurred simultaneously, and the action in the subordinate clause was continuous.)
(3)As I was walking down the street, I saw a friend. (It emphasizes the simultaneity of the two actions.)
9. Explain the tense collocation in adverbial clauses of time:
(1)If the main clause is in the future tense, the subordinate clause uses the present tense to express the future.
(2)If the main clause is in the past continuous tense, the subordinate clause uses the past tense.
(3)If the main clause is in the present perfect tense, the subordinate clause since introduces uses the past tense.
Step 3 Practice and Consolidation
1. Present some sentences and ask students to choose the appropriate conjunction to fill in the blanks.
(1)I was doing my homework ____ my father was watching TV.
(2)____ I got home, it was already dark.
(3)He didn't go to bed ____ he finished his work.
2. Ask students to make sentences using the given conjunctions and verb phrases to describe their daily lives.

Step 4 Situational Application
1. Create some situations, such as describing a day's activities or travel experiences, and ask students to express orally using adverbial clauses of time.
For example: "Yesterday, I went to the park. When I arrived, there were many people. I played happily there. After that, I went home."
Group activity: Students have group discussions. Then each group selects a representative to present.
Step 5 Summary
