Step 1 Lead-in
1. Show some pictures of famous wonders of the world, and ask students: "What are these " "Have you ever seen them "
2. Play a short video about the wonders of the world to arouse students' interest.
Step 2 Vocabulary Learning
1. Present the new words . Help students understand through pictures, example sentences and simple English explanations.
2. Let students follow and read the words to correct the pronunciation.
3. Play word games“guessing words”to consolidate the learned words.
Step 3 Sentence Pattern Learning
1. Explain the key sentence pattern "It's more than 2000 years old." and interpret the usage and meaning of "more than".
2. Give some examples, such as: "The river is more than 500 kilometers long." "There are more than 50 students in our class."
3. Ask students to make sentences by imitating the example sentences with "more than".
Step 4 Listening Practice
1. Play the recording of the text. Let students listen and try to understand the main idea.
2. Play the recording again. Ask students to complete the listening exercises.
3. Check the answers of the listening exercises and explain the key points.
Step 5 Dialogue Practice
1. Ask students to work in pairs and imitate the dialogue according to the text.
2. Create situations:talking about a scenic spot in the school, and let students have a dialogue by using the learned sentence pattern.
3. Invite several pairs of students to show the dialogue. Other students listen carefully and evaluate.
Step 6 Summary
1. Review the new words and the key sentence pattern learned in this class.
2. Summarize the usage of "more than".
Step 7Homework
1. Recite the new words.
2. Describe three things around you with the sentence pattern "It's more than...".
