Step 1: Warming up. Free talk: What is your hobby Can you do it well Then lead in the topic—abilities. Step 2: Pre-reading Have pupils look at the pictures on Page 14.15. T presents the questions: Who are in the picture What are they talking about Are they good at their hob bies Step 3: While-reading: Listen and answer: What are their hobbies How are their abilities (Can …well / Is …very good at… ) Read the dialogue freely and find out how well can they do their hobbies. Role play. Retell the dialogue in the third person form. Step 4. Post-reading Work in pairs to talk about the pictures on P15. e.g. The girl’s hobby is reading. She is very good at it. She can read fast. Choose two pictures to write them down. Finish the listening exercise on P16 Arouse Students’ interest and guide them to the topic: abilities. Students look at the picture and guess what they might learn from the picture. Listen and answer: Students will focus on the first question and they should answer in a complete sentence. Draw their attention to the key phrase: be very good at../ …very well… Learn and retell by heart. Practice making sentences orally and then write them down Listen and number.

Homework Copy the words four times each one.
Feedback They know the grammar but sometimes they may make mistakes when doing exercise. Some did the homework well, but some didn’t do it well, I thought maybe the exercise about the tenses was a little difficult for them. I’ll give them more practise.

Sing along: I can… Step 2: Presentation. Present the picture of P17: Match and say. Encourage Ss to say the sentences in the third person form. e.g. She helps children learn. She is a teacher. 2. Choose 3 people to write down the sentences. Step 3 Writing Ss imitate the sample and write a riddle about their classmate. Feedback It’s a revision lesson. In class, I find that the students haven’t mastered all of the words and key sentence patterns in this Module. They have a good shape in class. It’s a good lesson. The use of verbs is difficult for them.

Step 1.Warm-up Listen and sing the song together. Play a guessing game (Activity Book P10) Step 2. Learn the sound family 1. Have pupils look at the table and try to read the words in the table 2. Start with the first row. Read the words slowly to guide pupils to deduce the sound represented by ‘pr’ 3. Encourage Students to find more words with pr. If they can’t, T can show them the words and let them try to read them out. 4.Repeat the above procedures for the remaining words. Step 3. Read aloud. 1. My friend Grant How is he What’s his hobby Where does he practice his football What does he want to be Does everyone praise him How about his parents (Find out the words with the relationships of the new pronunciation.) Read the story Sum up: pr,br, cr, fr, gr Step 5 Exercise Finish the Activity Book Play a guessing game which include the main grammar of this unit. Sound the words and try to find out more. Learn how to talk about someone’s hobbies and how to read a passage.

Feedback These sounds are not easy to speak. In this class, I begin to write some words that Ss haven’t learned before, forcing them to speak out the words with the rules of the letters. It seems C8 Ss do it better.
