I always admired those gorgeous girls on the TV screen even though I knew that their impeccable skin was an illusion created by the filter. I hated my freckles dotting all over my face. I was short-sighted, thus when I took off my glasses, my eyes looked small and dull.
Then I saw an interview of foreigners being asked how they rated their appearance. To my surprise, almost all of them gave full marks to themselves. Looking at their radiant smiles, I started thinking about improving myself instead
of focusing too much on the outer appearance. Instead of saying “I want to have a perfect face”, I would say “I want to run a marathon” or “I want to read a new book”. Rather than worrying about what others think about me, I strived for personal growth. I could still doubt myself now and then, but at the end of the day I would regain my confidence.
Finally, I stopped being overthinking. By living in the moment, I have learned to appreciate everything surrounding me and lead a happier life.
